Time to explain since some have had things to say about our videos. Here in Delaware, we face several challenges regarding diving. For one, there are very few regulation boards. The pool in this video is ) the only high school in the entire state with a regulation 16’ Maxiflex board. There are also NO regulation boards at any outdoor pools; some have boards but they are not suitable for lessons or competition. And our YMCA’s don’t have ANY boards. We only have one diving club team state wide at the university. This is a good program (currently closed for 9 months due to COVID) and great facility but it’s expensive and does not always run year round. In the 1990’s and 2000’s many diving boards (most were not regulation or suitable for competition) were removed from high schools and outdoor pools due to pool depth/safety concerns. This removed valuable opportunities for kids to become involved in competitive diving. Our facility is also nowhere near as nice as other states and diving programs. We have one diving board and a video delay system. That’s it. We have no twisting belts, dryland boards, foam pits, trampolines, multiple boards, bubble machine, etc. As you can see, unfortunately Delaware is behind many other states when it comes to diving opportunities and participation. We’ve gone from having 30+ divers qualify for the state meet in the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s to less than 16 most of the last 10 years. Our goal each year is to get as many kids out as possible, teach them the basics, safely learn 11-12 dives, and to have fun…all in 3 months.

As high school diver from Indiana we often take our equipment for granted because it old prop to these boys and girls for sticking with diving it's a tough sport and I can only imagine how much harder it is without regulation boards. Congratulations to the champ it doesn't matter if it's 500 other competitors or 12 a win is a win

Considering all these obstacles you listed these dives were great. Doing your best with what you got is better than giving up. Keep up the good work.

People are mad at their diving, but I feel like most highschool dive competitions look like this 😂😂

From a diver these aren't the hardest dives. But they are way harder than they look. It is hard to control your body and have it do these things. Please give them more respect. thx :)

Tacy Cruz Also as a diver, I see most of these dives and it takes some bravery to do these like 1 1/2 dives and twist dives but some of the dives they are doing were easier thang the ones I did in my middle school competitions. I had a 103b, 202c, 301c, 302c, 401c, and a 5102c. We ended up going to all state championships and I did pretty well on my dives.

Alright I haven't dived before, but, the one at 0:58 ... come on... some of these is just them jumping. Please add 3m dives and 5m dives to the highschool diving teams. Maybe even the 10m dive to spice it up
@scsi27074 жыл бұрын
Zakary Koutrakos Yea, that dive was a 001a which is for beginners and is used on 3m springboard or higher. This is a beginner high school team and they don’t have as much experience.

꧁Адонис Кастильо꧂ 101a not 001a but your point definitely still stands, besides not every dive has to be incredibly difficult because most meets are either 6 or 11 dive meets and you start out with vols which are your easy dives and then do harder dives. Vols have to be under a certain degree of difficulty to be legal and if they’re over that degree of difficulty they get the degree of difficulty (dd) changed to match that threshold, so there really is no point in doing a higher dd dive when it’s not necessary

the closest 10 meter platform from where i live is 6 hours away. heck, the closest 3 meter board is 30 minutes away.

And honestly with the time they had to learn this plus 10 other dives a 101a can be a pretty clean dive when polished up

don’t think you understand how inaccessible that would be. this is the only regulation 1M board in their state. the majority of highschools don’t have the money to build 3m or towers.

Why are their hurdles so weird

This is good diving. I don't know why people are so spiteful. It is not an easy sport I connects 3 of most people fobias in to one: deep water, flying, and heights.
