This toll plaza is the next one in DE that needs Express E-ZPass Lanes... badly and has needed them for years.

Yes - the only way it could work is if traffic exiting at Route 9 was kept to the right of the plaza with cash/ez-pass lanes for that traffic. (see the layout of Tappan Zee Br toll plaza for an example)

roadwaywiz yeah that's what I was thinking. It also wouldn't hurt to have US-13/40 traffic stay to the right as well and have a barrier continue to the split as there is typically a lot weaving traffic within this area

dea41396returns and at that rate, a local-express (2-3-3-2 lane configuration) system would make sense for the entire stretch. It would be a massive venture for the DRBA if they were ever interested in it. I agree that the 295/13-40 split needs some sort of improvement, but there isn't a real solution other than the above.
