I am new to recording, I started using Reaper in my home studio about 6 months ago and bought a copy of the software after looking at various DAW's. Kenny, you have been an absolute life save!!! I have learned so much by following your videos. From the real basics to the more complex things. It's obvious you have so much experience and know what you are talking about. Thanks for posting such useful videos. You're a star!

Imo, these tutorials from Kenny are superb. I really appreciate the direct way he deals with the information, there is no filler -waffle at all, it's straight to it.. Also, he demonstrates everything so clearly. The timing is very good, not rushed or keeping you hanging around. Great delivery. Thank you for these tutorials.

It's also worth trying a sidechain compressor or inverted gate on the delay that's keyed from the actual vocal track. Then the delayed signal will automatically be reduced or silenced during the vocal, hence only audible between vocal lines, without any send or mute automation.
@caspermaster-com7 жыл бұрын
Thats cool, but i think that is for a more subtle fx, if you do that with obvious delaytrhrows it might work at some places but eventually you will have to automate by hand, so better getting it how you want it in the first place

Very brilliant Kenny! You just answer the question that I always wonder to create such delay. As I still have a bad usage of virtual space like delay, echo, and reverb in my mix . Hope you discover them much more in the future!

We could do that automation moves with the MUTE button, as well, right? I know rhat MUTE is a very "hardcore" way to open and close the send signal, but I think that we could automate it just like you did with the VOLUME fader... Am I wrong?

I'd rather do it the live digital mixing console way : - create a send that starts at -inf - adjust delay level so that it sounds right when send fader is at 0dB - when doing a throw : by default the value is -inf, and you throw up to 0dB to send to delay, and it goes back to -inf when you release (if in touch mode)

Hi, as always great video. Why did you lower the send volume. I am a little shaky on gain staging, especially as it relates to how hard it hits the plugin. but it seems like plugins react differntly to different signal levels. is that the case here. ty
@JeserNoob3 жыл бұрын
That’s what I was thinking too.
@djabthrash3 ай бұрын
"Why did you lower the send volume" So that the delay didn't sound too loud in the mix. He could have also turned down the delay fx volume itself, or add a trim plugin on that delay channel.

I've learned soo much from you Kenny, thank you. I was following this tutorial when hit something. Now when I record a take, I no longer have the pop up message that promts me to pick Save All/Delete All/ etc... Anyone know how to activate this again? I would really appreciate the help.

Kurt Hendrix that's somewhere in your preferences - maybe under takes

Brad Thomas I am using a Novation SL25 Remote as a Midi controller. Is there software to save all the mapping (faders/knobs/pads) in Reape, If not is there a setting, that needs enabling? I'm able to LEARN a fader, but each time I exit Reaper then load a song, my mapping disappears and I have to start all over. I appreciate any direction or feed back. Thank you.

the only thing that stops me from switching is the GUI i tried many skins but nothing satisfied me i hope they work on the GUI more like ableton
@Byronic191346 жыл бұрын
Abletons gui is arguably worse, they got they're plugins in a box in the bottom, not vector resizable like Reapers where you can move em around, in fact you can't move nothing around in Ableton at all and they're menu system is the worse while Reaper got arguably the best menu system which can be docked or undocked and moved around screen like everything. With that said you're right in that Ableton did do something to make they're GUI look more polished and Reaper can too. It's just a matter of getting use to looking at something.
