Boeing needs a miracle to deliver 777x in 2026, it can realistically deliver by late 2027 or 2028 at the current pace of development.

They will deliver one (with the bare minimums required to fly) in December 2026, so they can cross that box as completed.

The strike lasted 7 weeks, that cannot be used as an excuse to push back the program by a year. A significant problem is the American financial industry, pushing always for increased dividends and share values, irrespective of long-term goals and projects. Until investing is seen as a way of building businesses and less of a daily roulette spin, the drive will remain profit over quality.

@ someone thinking list prices mean anything… First, Boeing is known to give more generous discounts than Airbus, second, airlines get financial compensation for each and every delay applied to the final price. And with 7 years and counting, the planes are practically free at this point, at least for the customers that have been on the list since 2017. That’s what I referred to talking about price. And time horizon: If you orderA350 now you‘re looking at 4-5 years delivery time unless you have presaved slots or negotiate with other airlines. So before you come in here and tell people to do proper research I recommend applying that to yourself first. And btw. you’re comparing 2018 Airbus prices to 2022 Boeing prices. Just saying…

What gets me is the 777x is really an upgrade with a few changes of the DUH 777. Is it a brand new airplane which would warrant a new designation number? No! It's an evolution of the 777 so WTF IS THE PROBLEM?
@curlylast812110 күн бұрын
Add new wings, two massively bigger engines, new avionics, more seats, new materials, new control surfaces, starting to sound like a new plane to me. Boeing, however, is trying to lipstick in its pig and call it a gazelle.
@pentametero10 күн бұрын
@curlylast8121 If it were a new plane it would have a new number, not just a 777 with an "X" added to it. Plus they're not just trying to reinvent the wheel; it's an upgrade or modification to an already existing airframe. Most of it should not be so difficult since the upgrades aren't really that great...

@cheefcambermusic2225 , I don't pay attention to what aircraft is flying the time and route of my choosing. Most people don't. I honestly laugh out loud at people in airports when I hear them say this. I've flown on 737MAXs 83 flights now. Although the Boeing 777X has faced delays after delays, airlines haven't canceled the order for the aircraft yet because they are confident that the aircraft will soon be certified and enter service.
