I spent about 20 years running SW1200's, and I never get tires of seeing EMD switchers working! I have always wanted to run an old 'high hood' GP, though. I think those are some great looking engines, and must be a hoot to operate. Thanks for a nice video reminder of railroad days.

Brought back great memories for me! During the late 70s and early eighties I saw nothing but Geeps on the old CN&L...SCL GP7s and GP9s and Southern Geeps . Took them for granted back then...wish they were still around!

what was the CN&I line?
@GB-yo8xf Жыл бұрын
@@charlesdowdie121 CN&L was A short line from Columbia SC to Laurens SC. Was 75 miles long and before being merged into the ACL had 5 GP7s and 2 cabs. Columbia, Newberry & Laurens. At the time I was A teenager and was A HUGE railfan...Took thousands of pics of the old SCL geeps..The CN&L division usually were assigned the old GP7s to run the 2 locals and 2 through freights daily.

The narrator sounds like Railfan Danny Harmon from Distant Signal. He's a good narrator and has good video and drone shots.of what he see's I always like the way the GP's sound when idling. Those Norfolk Southerns always sound like the engines a misfiring when pulling a load

Thats cool to see you guys catching a unit (1759) that used to belong to one of my favorite railroads, The New Hampshire Northcoast. 1759 had began its life as a GP9 for the Pennsylvania Railroad, then being owned by Conrail/Penn Central, then being sold from the NHN to the Adrian and Blissfield.

I remember corn plants coming up between the rails at the mill where I grew up at a half a block away from the KCS main in Westville Oklahoma. didnt get but about 8 in before they got sprayed. they were very cool to rail fans. we, (alot of times, several kids and maybe an adult or 2. they were always somebody dad making sure that their kid didnt get to close to the trains,) would always wave, and they would wave back. I think they kida took it as exposure to the KCS. lol

Some states give railway police statewide jurisdiction even off of the railway. But I’d just assume the officer doesn’t get a lot of action so he just follows people anywhere near the line.
