Take down the cards. Some of those roads in IN do have nice scenery. Some of them are so narrow with no shoulders and the trucks go on them. My husband and I got on 26 going east with a large truck and trailer. Big mistake! Thanks for sharing another great ride. Stay warm and God bless.

You would have driven thru Farlen (not even a bump in the road) but that would be the turn ((just south of NWSC Crane) to Odon where I grew up and lived until 1987. Look forward to the where to park to sleep video... I'm fixing to get into the trucking industry and I've always wondered what do you do when you just can't find a spot and you're up against your 14-hours for the day. Love your videos and and cudos to being able to do several a week.... I look forward to all of them. Stay safe!
@hewhohasnoidentity43772 жыл бұрын
I can say in my experience the more tired you are the more creative I got with where to sleep. I'll take a parking ticket over an accident any day and by the time someone would wake me up I'd at least have some sleep. I had many rest breaks on ramps, in weight stations, rest areas, Walmarts, Most unusual was in Austin. I was heading north and already tried several exits looking for parking. Everything was full. I seen other trucks just using the shoulder of the Interstate and eventually I gave in and found a somewhat wide shoulder and went to sleep. Surprisingly nobody said anything. Where you stop to sleep is very specific to the kind of freight you haul and who you work for. Some companies have a policy banning ramps and will immediately terminate if they find out. Some fleets have quiet yards conveniently located. Others make stopping at a yard more hassle than it is worth.
@truckingwithschmidt71202 жыл бұрын
Great to hear, parking is definitely an issue, don't run like me though, I make parking extremely hard if we're to park in truck stops every night. If a person ran like normal guys ,,,,the truck stops can workout. I'm usually parking in dirt lots or on ramps.

63°F here in Dinuba CA today. I am loading oranges for South Dakota...back to the cold. Does your truck have a 12,000# steer axle? My "plastic truck😉" has the 13200# steer axle. That extra is helpful for getting things balanced out. Typically on a 78000+ GVW load my steer is about 12400#.
@truckingwithschmidt71202 жыл бұрын
I usually run around that 12 on the steer

I’ve often wondered why, when, and what caused these current drivers to park all night with their parking lights off. It’s so difficult to park in between two of them in a dark lot. I always keep mine on, that way other drivers can see me. I know most turn off their trucks, but they also have apu’s and epu’s which keep the batteries charged. I guess I missed the memo about five years ago when I started noticing it at night. 🤷🏻♂️

Hi there Kurt & Opie. Yet another great vlog. Thank you for taking us along. Darn fleas anyway.😆 I was really taking back when you had talked about your dream of losing 1 of your legs in an accident & meeting a man that had lost his left leg. A near & dear friend of my had lost his left leg back in '95 in a terrible accident when he was driving a flat bed tow truck. He was hauling 1 car & towing 1 behind him. He went head on with a conventional tractor trailer hauling swinging beef on a 2 lane HWY in Kansas. The other driver broke his arm. They both were lucky enough 2 "walk away" from it. This near & dear friend went back 2 trucking until other health issues came along & he passed 8 years ago of a massive heart attack. He is greatly loved & missed. We do wonder where these dreams come from. Maybe they come 2 us 2 slow down a bit & continue 2 drive with care. God is our pilot. Keep on truckin' Kurt.💕🙏🏼
