Worked the afternoon shift for this concert for IL State Police. Have to say we were able to see a damn good show that day. Hard to believe it's almost 40 years ago.

"Givin' it up" was a marvelous fusion of Rock, Blues and Country. I could play it everyday. By the way, did you happen to recognize that barely post-pubescent rebel quitarist in the dark brown leather jacket? He's an up and comer musician by the name of Vince Gill.

I don't think he got the accolades he should have but PBS had a performance of Delbert on just last year or 2 years ago maybe (2023 now). I forget what year it was because sometimes they will have a performance that they have shown before. Delbert was much older but put on a great show. He didn't perform some i would liked to have heard---"Old Weakness (Coming On Strong)" for one.

This is great. I guess i am biased, but i only know this recording from what Tina Turner did with it. The Queen makes songs her own...like John Fogerty's famed River Boat Queen that she has been rolling on since 1971. This is great though.... Really

Is that a joke or are you serious with that comment... ( He seemed right on the money with the best and his little variations and stuff, no?)
@angeloarimborgo63522 жыл бұрын
@@derekgunn1914 No insult intended. His tempo is good. It’s just that he’s holding the cowbell backwards. The opening should be facing the audience so you can hear it. It’s a common mistake a lot of singers and non-percussionists make. Other than that, the guy is awesome.
@brucenewlin62082 жыл бұрын
He's been doing it his own way for 60 years, he gave harmonica lessons to John Lennon, your comment is like you would criticize Willie Nelson for having a hole in his guitar because it diminishes the quality of the sound. In other words, you're presenting yourself as the village idiot with your comment.
