Apart from ambulances and paramedics, which are not operational or non-existent in the Nigerian healthcare system, proper security measures like guiding people into the venue and controlling the influx of the crowd, could have been done even before the public announcement by the organizers. Like you said, it is part of the larger problem of poverty in the country, and the Nigerian government has failed these victims once again. May the souls of the children rest in peace.

It is not true that hunger caused the stampede. It's a behavioral problem. Is hunger the reason Nigerians embarrassingly rush to board planes or deplane on arrivals, and have to be always screamed at by the flight attendants to be orderly and wait for their turn? It's just sickening that we give hunger as excuse for all our bad behavior. Our biggest problem is greed and it's quite endemic in our society, let's be real for once. Haba! SMH
@greatsage366654 минут бұрын
What does that have to do with this issue? Also I have never seen Nigerians rush to board planes
@ibaileibaomo766024 минут бұрын
@greatsage3666 Of course it's always selective reasoning for you guys, and that's why you complain all your life about bad government as if the people that make up this same government are not from among you. If the people the incident affected could come online and testify that people were disorderly by rushing in through the gate despite the already dying and injured were on the ground, then you sure incapable of connecting the dots. You seem to like to pick symptoms and lash onto them without looking at root causes. Also, If you're well travelled internationally and haven't noticed the impatience of our people as per boarding and exiting flights, then you're in utter denial.

Geography was my best subject in high school and economic geography l later studied extensively; but suffice it to say I hardly remember how to describe or define Nigeria as a nation or country. All the basic characteristics of a state; nation or country are lacking in that enclave called a country. What baffles me is how the leadership doesn’t see how backward Nigeria, once an envy of Africa if not the entire world has become a shamble of her former self. It is a shame how we have backslid from great to worse as a nation.

Hello sister, I was watching your KZbin presentation on the stampede in Ibadan Nigeria. Though she'd been doing these giveaways b4 now she knew how many showed up for such a gesture. What is wrong with her putting a crowd control measure in place. She wanted to give away #5000, what is wrong with printing 5000 tickets to control the crowd for her to prevent such a disaster at this time of the year. She and the person in charge of the event should be made a scapegoat for such disaster to happen again. As a parent, my body was shaken looking at the helpless bodies of the kids.

The tragedy is that these children died trying to access less than £3. How many ambulances did Oyo State purchase in the last 5 years? How many Fire engines did Oyo State buy in the last 5 years? Let Oyo State present its Emergency response protocal or the evacuation protocol. The government will not fund this area because they actually have to show what they did with the money.

It is true that Judges are 🎉 which is unfortunate. As a society what have we done to support the few that lost their jobs because they refused to be corrupted? We should do more to find, support and celebrate Citizens who lost it all because they refused to be compromised. This will encourage others to resist corruption. Nigerians are quick to forget and move on. We need to ensure that we continue to speak up for those in jail so as to encourage others to 'fight' for the country

I feel so bad for her. A goodwill initiative that suddenly turned very tragic. May their souls rest in perfect peace. It is the high level hunger that is ravaging the land that is at the root of this unfortunate and avoidable tragedy. Nigerian leaders are so good in blame game and bulk-passing. They never take responsibility for their abysmal failures, negligence and neglect of the citizens. If the various Gov'ts at all levels were carrying out their primary responsibility of seeing to the welfare and security of the people, would this terrible tragedy have happened. Of course, NO! But they will never see it from that perspective. Nigeria is a country where its leaders never learn from experience and also, never pro-active in their actions. Until, some unpleasant incidents happen, the leaders will never take appropriate initiatives to do what is right. This is where we are, today. So, unfortunate.
