Dr. Charles, I am glad you finally reckon. This was exactly the reason I was angry when I saw PO at Ekiti trying to dialogue with an oppressor. We do not need sooth sayers to know how corrupt the judiciary is; 2023 PEPT already did that for those who care to know. The owner of the chicken was a policeman at the time, and the boy who tried to steal a chicken had been remanded for 14 whole years until recently. Where on earth do you remand a thief of food for 14 years? To make matters worse, the death penalty was then issued to someone who is a thief of an item less than NGN1,500 at the time the crime was committed. Adeleke should not only give him prerogative of mercy but has to be compensated because he has lost a greater part of his productive life, not to mention his deprivation from getting tertiary education. There are many more cases of this nature and like I wrote earlier after watching one of your videos, if Afe Babalola does not call off these cases, many more cankerworms will be unleashed to buttress Dele's point. This is just one of them despite not being directly related to Afe Babalola. However, it is a clear indication that Dele was 100% spot on. Well done, sir.

I got another opinion on this issue that the 17 year old and his accomplice at the time of the offense were armed with a matchet and a Dane gun when they robbed the home of a police officer and some others. This does not however negate the fact that he was a minor and should not be handed such a severe punishment for that offense. The punishment was too harsh for his age especially when no life was lost.

Dear Dr Charles Apoki sir, it was a judge of a high court of justice that sentenced the boy to death and not a magistrate. A magistrate has no jurisdiction to pass death sentence or try capital offences.

Sure, that is why we should pay attention to our leaders and legislators. The magistrate sentenced according to the law as it is written in our statutes. Wehave so many archaic laws but we keep voting illiterate lazy legislators at State level! This is how it works all over the world. Judges do not just pass sentence willy-nilly! The focus on the Presidency is misplaced!! Just look at voter turn out between Presidency and governors elections. We the people need to TAKE OUR POWER BACK!
