It is Middle English. Many great epic poems were written in Middle English... and now a great song. I am impressed and awed that anyone would take up such a challenging language to write a song with. I love the way it flows when spoken and now I can hear how it flows when it is sung. Splendid! Bravo!

Basically, it's Rhys Fulber, who has several different official projects he works with, Delerium being one (Conjure One is another, if you like this sound). He gets lots of very talented female singers to work with him, including Poe, Sinead O'Connor, Sarah Machlachlan, and Leigh Nash (album: "Fauxliage" title is such a great joke.)

I agree- this is sung in Middle English, which was spoken roughly between 10th and 16th century, Old English being spoken before, and it developed into Early Modern English which is the direct antecessor of current English. It still shares many features in common with Old English while incorporating a large number of French loanwords. For that matter, Mediaeval Baebes are known for singing in a wide variety of languages, including Middle English, Scots, Cornish and Latin.

Epic song - lyrics still to this day take my breath away. I always have envisioned as I first heard only the audio and lyrics long ago of a scene with children dancing around a candle lit in the middle of the room. Shadows on the walls. Sounds of laughter..a message there..

The girl in the bathtub is Audrey Evans, who was a founder member of the Baebes in 1996 and left in 2007. She now lives in Belgium with her husband, ex-Kula Shaker bassist Alonza Bevan, and their son. Audrey and Alonza are now a duo called Tumblewild. Check out the video for their song Revenge.
