2:15 what about the elephant in the room, clerk organizations are limited to 3 users 🤦

The story is almost as old as time. Solutions like Auth0 and Clerk are invaluable when you need to get something out fast. They let you focus on your business and not on things needed to support it. But oftentimes the control over your architecture is worth more. I think it's great to use these services at least in the beginning, but you have to understand the inner workings to be able to move out from them when the time calls for it

I'm embarrassed how long it took me to realize that the pipe was there to hold the microphone

So you hand over control of valuable data to a third party, and are no longer able to do quick joins across certain tables in the DB? Seems like a solution in search of a problem rather than solving any genuine issues. Happy to hear arguments to the contrary

Where do you usually store your valuable data? You have servers in your basements or your own data centers? You don't use a third party for data? As for quick joins, it's not a problem when data is cached and can be retrieved incredibly quickly. Auth data usually does not change very fast so it can be easily cached.
