With discomfort. It’s a dad seeing his daughter dressing up as a cancer fighter. The idea of seeing you’re kid like that would make you think of them going through that. Which would be horrible. But the kids excited about it. So you want to validate them. It’s a really emotionally complex scene in the right hands.

I don’t think this clip is enough to decide whether John can act. It feels awkward but realistically awkward. Like something someone in that scenario would say.

There's a Hindi (Bollywood) remake of this movie which I haven't watched yet called Dil Bechara. Sadly the lead male actor in the movie killed himself right before the film came out. I know there may be people hating on the idea of a Hindi remake, and I don't want to get into that. I hope they do justice to the book. RIP Sushant Singh Rajput.

John talks often about how he’s a terrible actor, and that this scene was cut because he was so awful in it, but like…I swear it’s not that bad. At worst he sounds mildly disinterested and slightly annoyed with Jackie for reason we don’t know because “Jackie’s Dad” is not a main character, but it’s not…awful or anything. It’s reasonably believable I think.

Weird how people think scenes get deleted because of bad acting. It’s deleted for many other reasons… it’s not always the actor’s fault. Actors think they got “cut” because their ego won’t let them not take stuff like this personally. The acting is fine. It’s probably how trivial and weak the scene is

His acting wasn't bad, but this scene is kinda awkward bc like, you deff shouldn't expect someone to borrow you their breather. If it's annoying when people ask you to try on your glasses, I can only imagine what that would be like. And, you know, nice way to transmit a cold too. I wish they had thought of something nicer. I was expecting this to be funny, but I genuinely think he was p decent for someone who isn't actually an actor.

It's in the director's cut of the movie. Often on DVD (when people still watched DVDs) there would be a director's cut or extended cut or something like that that includes the scenes that were cut for the cinema version.
