The pending packages of the Delhi Mumbai expressway has been a big disappointment. All of them are delayed by atleast 2 year. The whole expressway is less likely to be functional before 2028.

Land acquisition is big hurdle for all projects, also road quality is not up to the mark i drove from Vadodara to in between some where in between surat, land law was very important which was failed due to farmers protest..

By the time the whole expressway is completed end to end, there would be potholes and continuous maintainance works on the packages that were completed first quite a few years ago. This would therefore make a vicious cycle of the expressway never actually feeling "complete". Vishwaguru 🤡

All work was postponed for 2 years during COVID. Real work started only in Dec 2023. It will probably be over in another 3 months. Only doing up to the GSB and bridges are difficult. After that, machines pave PQC really fast. I see here that GSB is left only in a few areas and almost all bridges/viaducts are complete. That should be done soon and those stretches paved in 3 months. The interchanges/toll plaza/WSA will take more time but the expressway portion should be paved in 3-4 months fully.

Appreciate your expertise, but being an engineer i was working on a project at that lockdown period of 2021,, and work was never stopped there mid 2021. I don’t know why in other projects work was not being carried out 😓

@ it depends on where the labor was from. Most affected projects had labor from Bihar, Assam, Bengal. Also, land acquisition in semi-urban Surat areas slowed down due to COVID. If the construction was in a remote rural area, the land acquisition was faster. The real surprise is why Vadodara to Dahod stretch is delayed. This stretch is remote and rural and has no disturbance or land acquisition issues. There are not that many bridges either. This stretch should have been completed really fast. And Mukundra tunnel is a real problem. That is a vital link that is slowing down the entire connectivity.
