Water storage capacity of river near barrage , reduce if river bed is badly silted.... It's also responsible for flood... As river section is reduced , due to silt in bed , it can't pass water with full capacity...

From 2014 to 2020, the BJP government has spent Rs 28,790 crore on the Namami Ganga project, a project to clean up the river Ganga. But at the same time, the southern states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are facing water scarcity, resulting in economic decline. So considering this situation, BJP government could have built seawater desalination plants in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka but instead BJP is growing the butt of North Indians with the tax money squeezed from South Indians.

Same Tamil Nadu gov has crores of money to spent on madarasa to appease voter and openly funding christian missionaries .. but when asked about spending money on productive things such as destination ,they would simply blame center for not releasing money. Water and river is state subject as per constitution. Center has very limited power in that.... And At the end be it left or right, no one give shit about common man.
