Our journey through Kamla Nagar brought us to some iconic eateries and hidden gems, each offering a slice of Delhi’s vibrant culinary culture.
At Bille Di Hatti, we began our day with their legendary poori chole, a dish that draws crowds daily. The soft, puffed pooris are served with perfectly spiced chole and a side of tangy lauki ka achaar, making it a must-try for anyone visiting the area. While they offer a variety of snacks, this is their bestseller. To complete the meal, we indulged in a comforting serving of sooji ka halwa and washed it down with their refreshing namkeen lassi.
Next, we stopped by Ramu Singhara Cart near Chota Gol Chakkar to enjoy some juiciest singhara (water chestnuts). If you’re in the mood for something light and fresh, this spot is a great choice for a quick fruit.
At Trishul Chaat Bhandar, located in Dak Khane Wali Gali, we tasted their matar kachori, a crowd favourite. This crispy homemade kachori is topped with a zesty white peas mixture and drizzled with two kinds of chutneys. If you want to savor a combination of crunch, spice and tang, this dish is a must-have.
We then visited the iconic Chache Di Hatti on 32 Bungalow Road, an institution in its own right. Known for their chole bhature, this place has been serving food lovers for nearly 60 years. Their fluffy bhature, made using a starter dough, paired beautifully with the flavorful chole. The dish is complemented by pyaz with imli ki chutney, creating a meal that’s hearty and satisfying.
To take a quick break, we stopped at Kamdev Tea Stall in Block E. Their elaichi tea was simple yet aromatic, offering a refreshing break.
At Vaishnav Chaat Bhandar, fondly remembered by locals as Dharamshale ki Chaat, we tried their famous palak patta chaat. The deep-fried spinach leaf fritters were topped with yogurt and chutneys, and was a delightful mix of crispiness and tanginess. This spot is perfect for those who want to enjoy an evening snack with a burst of flavors.
For a taste of rich, indulgent food, we visited Badri Prasad Ramesh Kumar in Block G. They specialize in dishes that remind you of feasts especially wedding feasts. We savoured their tandoor-baked laccha paratha, paired with matar korma, dal makhani and rajma made in the signature Baniya style.
Shree Bankey Bihari Brijwasi Rasgulla Wale transported us to Vrindavan with its traditional offerings. The shop prepares all its dishes with desi ghee and other milk products sourced directly from Vrindavan. Their rasgulla, rabri kulia and gulab jamun were rich and authentic, while the Vrindavan-inspired decor added to the charm of the experience.
We concluded our tour at Shri Ram Prasad Paan Shop near Chota Gol Chakkar. Their traditional paan, with its balanced flavors, was the perfect way to end our day of indulgence. Kamla Nagar’s diverse offerings made this food tour an unforgettable experience.
