Hi there! We mostly used Google to find different places that either served halal meat or were vegetarian, and we would ask vendors if we felt we needed to. There is a halal app called Halal Navi that you could get to help too.

I had those octopus balls, in Philippines, and I agree, they're much softer than I expected. Are the Cheese Tarts the same as Malaysian ones. YUMMY
