Love this. Thanks for sharing your culture. My son is 19 and his best friend from Kindergarten up to 9th grade was Lao. We are Black and I had never heard of Laos before them. One of the nicest families ever. My sons friend group was like a mini United Nations...lol

Thanks for sharing such a intimate family tradition/celebration! My family loves learning new cultural celebrations... I find some nations celebrate New Year in Spring since everything is becoming anew... but in traditional western culture New Year is winter when everything is dead... I much prefer a Spring New Year! Anyway Cheers to you and your family!

What a wonderful family you have Dennis. I'm curious what the meaning of some of the men having 5 dollar bills tied on their wrists, is this part of the ceremony? I was hoping that maybe they all donated the cash to your Grandma, that would be cool.
@LaoOcean2 жыл бұрын
So grandma gets a lot of hand ties (for well wishes) and sometimes money is included in the hand dies. Other people also receive hand ties. Grandma always gets the most, and she also receives cash gifts in envelopes as well.

@@LaoOcean Oh that is so awesome. I truly believe that everyone should honor their grandparents in any way they can, your family did it great.

Very beautiful house and ceremony. The food looked awesome. Unfortunately I have a severe shellfish allergy (shrimp, lobster, crab, oysters, clams, etc.) Otherwise it looks so delicious. Another great video .
