anne was a kelpie they are magical horses from Irish stories, basically a kelpie looks beautiful and docile to trick victims into riding them, once on their back they drag the victim into the water to drown and eat the body, when the seshi said that never did anything it was because he never tried to ride before then the monster's instincts acted

So this isn't in the anime but instead inside a "monster tidbits" portion in the manga. Basically, those fishmen you see that Laios wanted to eat, technically they actually *aren't* demi-humans. They hatch from eggs like you saw, but when they're young, they actually look closer to real fish until they reach maturity. The merMAIDS on the other hand actually *are* classified as demi-humans and belong in the mammalian group, meaning they give birth to live young instead of ones that hatch from eggs, making them an entirely different species. In fact, as another interesting tidbit, those mermaids actually *feed* on fishmen themselves whilst they still look like fish, so Laios isn't *entirely* in the wrong, but at the same time, Chilchuck is completely understood not wanting to eat something that very closely resembles a demi-human.

6:32 Technically, Laios doesn't really trust that Mollusca Sword, he trusts it's instinct as a monster. Plus, it doesn't seem like those Mollusca Monster eat Humans, so it won't attack them (it's like the difference between trusting a Man-eater vs trusting a Moose, both can kill a human, but only one would hunt them).
@dejaypage15757 ай бұрын
Better comparison: it’s trusting a wild predatory animal in its docile period vs trusting a herbivore

Honestly, with Anne the Kelpie, she likely did bond a bit with Senshi. But, she was also a monster, the moment Senshi got on his back, instincts kicked in. Food is food and a kelpie's way of getting food is to charm people into getting on its back so they can drag you down. In Irish stories, there's also a part about not being able to get of a kelpie once you get on, so you're usually FUCKED if you do at all.

the thing with Laios is that he's clearly a fanatic and *very* knowledgeable about monsters. He is generally right when it comes to them

the funniest thing is at the end, Marcille has to wake up every few hours to cast a healing spell on Laios so his HP doesnt hit 0. Meanwhile he has to just deal with the bubble guts until it passes 🤣

In relation with the kelpie, horse meat is actually surprisingly good, the meat is similar to lean beef with a hint of sweetness and gaminess, and its packed with more nutrients. My personal favorite is this Filipino dish called Tapang Kabayo, which is fried horse meat cured in soy sauce, calamansi (A small citrus fruit similar to lime), and some spices and it's best served with garlic fried rice, fried egg, and a cup of coffee as a full-course breakfast meal. The way Senshi prepared the giant parasitic worm is similar to the Japanese grilled eel (Unagi).

Watching Them Eat this Is Getting me Hungry for Squid & Eel - Since Laios remembers Kuro the Kobold who is voiced by Toru Nara who also voices Rikido / Sugarman, Snipe, & Onima (My Hero Academia), Flazzard (Dragon Quest), Flint & others (Pokemon), Nand (To Your Eternity), Kuma, Keita’s dad, & others (Yo-kai Watch), Thunder McQueen & others (JoJo), Matsumura & others (Dorohedoro), Producer (Oddtaxi), Koslow & Klaus (AOT), Hisshuu (Medaka Box), Gido (HxH), young Jiraiya (Naruto), Scarecrow (Jormungand), Sinta (Zombieland Saga), Yoshiaki (Btooom), Sasaki, Oda, Tanktop Gota, Mr. B, & Fukami (Parasyte), Ced (Lupin the 3rd), Alec (The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic), Neil (Fullmetal Alchemist), & many more while Eng dub is Keith Silverstein who also voices King Freinag from the last episode

So something that doesn't get mentioned is that squids, octopus and cuttlefish have A particular chemical in their body that helps LPS them stay buoyant. In the small ones the amount is negligible so you can't taste it. However in giant squid and octopus there is so much that it makes them completely unpalatable for humans. That's why Laios found just one bite of the Kraken to be disgusting.

I feel like most people wouldn't want me in my party because I have zero issues with eating humanoids. The biggest issue/risk with it would be the possibility of disease which in a fantasy setting isn't as big of an issue because it is a humanoid, not a human. Different beings, different diseases etc. etc. There is only so much overlap most diseases can handle so if you ate a kobold or a goblin as an example the chances of you catching something from them would be really small but that mostly depends on the setting (another example would be you would only be able to catch a small handful of illnesses from fish because the diseases... don't really know what to do when inside of us. Similar with most reptilian diseases or even canine and feline). With parasites it's much easier to deal with. Cook it thoroughly over a fire, most can't stand it and die before you eat it. Many other ways to kill the parasites but cooking it works the best for most of them (Some are really tough and stubborn though so don't take that to heart). So those sirens? Yeah I got no issues with it. Don't ask what is wrong with me, I don't know. If you find out what is wrong with me then please reply... wow I really went on a rant. Sorry about that.
@alecLogan8 ай бұрын
Possibly a level of distancing from the issue. Because you are aware that it’s a thing ‘irl,’ but not so much in fantasy. Rather, it’s founded on “if it were me” logic when ‘you’ are your lifetime experiences, which would be different if you were native to that setting. If you existed there and had different experiences, you _might_ think differently (considering that to _be_ reality), but if you wound up isekai’d there, you might feel comfortable testing it.
@jonathansarver48128 ай бұрын
True but unfortunately I also feel little attachment to humans as a whole. The only people I care for are my family and a handful of friends outside of them I don't care for the most part (Some exceptions are there but they are few and far between). I feel more empathy for animals (Even some insects strangely enough) than I do for most people. Though I do value your input on the matter.@@alecLogan
