Delicious Tagaytay Treats - Cecilia's Buko Pie, Fresh Pineapple, and Rowena's Pasalubong

Just finishing up with breakfast at Escala before checking out of Summit Ridge so that we can pick up some pasalubong at Cecilia's and Rowena's before heading back home to BGC.

we used to buy buko pie at the the original store too in laguna.they have also a lot of pasalubong.cecilias is also famous and masarap too.have a safe travel jay jenny mike and friend.😍👍🙏

the best buko pie is The Original Buko Pie along Sta. Rosa-Tagaytay Road.. it's the one & only branch in Tagaytay, main store is in Laguna. the store is always busy with long lines of balikbayans & locals buying native sweets & their most famous buko pie (real buko & not so sweet). you'll see people buying boxes & boxes of buko pie & shing-a-lings. they often run out of buko pies due to the huge demand esp. during weekends or the holiday season. The Original is way way cheaper than Cecilia's!

Thanks so much for the tip! I don't believe I've ever had the Original Buko Pie before but this is one I definitely want to try next time we're in Tagaytay or Laguna. We brought back a bunch of Cecilia's this time around and had guests over -- I think everyone loved it so I guess you can't go wrong, either way. Cheers!

@@BGCDreams we used to buy Colette's and switched to The Original, the only hassle is it has only 1 store so we either buy on the way to or on the way back. haha Jay, I'll also try Cecilia's, easier access to their stores because they are one too many. Try to dine at Rowena's (main pasalubong store in front, restaurant & her house at the back, with garden & pool, along Sta. Rosa-Tagaytay Rd too). How about Antonio's fine dining & Breakfast at Antonio's (if you have not gone there yet).

The view of Mt. Taal is is truly stunning! There are so many choices of pasalubongs. I wouldn’t know which to buy. I think I saw a cassava cake…so yummy. I’ve never been to Cecilia’s Pasalubong store. There are so many buko pie stores. I wonder which one is the best?

It's a very amazing view and that alone is worth the price of admission going to Tagaytay 🤩 In terms of buko pie, we really love Cecilia's and it's delicious so tbh I can't really even imagine something tasting much better 😅😂 However, there's lots of glowing recommendations for Orient - The ORIGINAL Buko Pie Bakeshop so we'll have to try that someday! 😊

Yes! Buko pie and bulalo is a must when in tagaytay! One thing we discovered in tagaytay is Rodillas yema cake. You can usually find them at some of the buko pie shops. And Laguna has them too. I'm (Marian) usually not into yema cake the way Jerry is, but when I tried the Rodillas one, OMG it was heaven! We ended up liking that more over buko pie 🤪. Overall, the best part of visiting Tagaytay is stopping by all the pasalubong shops and vendors on the way back. That's like the best part of the experience for us 😅!

Fact: Bukidnon in Mindanao prov. is the pineapple capital of the Phils., its where u can find the best quality (huge and seedless) and its being exported around the world. Del Monte Pineapple factory is where it is located. While Davao is the banana and durian capital.

You said tagaytay is the pineapple capital of the Philippines. Trivia time: Did you know that del monte Philippines in Bukidnon Philippines is the largest pineapple plantation in the world. It is in 20k hectares. I’ve been there and it’s a sight to see. Del monte pineapple you see everywhere in the world is from the Philippines.

Del Monte plantation in Mindanao is one of the largest in the world & and the biggest in the Far East. Mindanao also has the Dole plantation in South Cotabato which is also large.

@@BGCDreams No worries. Being too young, I barely recall my experience going there but all I could see were thousands of pineapples. We ended up inside its cafeteria. Pineapple 💛 my fav. How to pick it? Some people say the bigger the eyes the sweeter. I don’t even know if it’s true?!

Great question! We aren't pineapple experts by any means, so we asked the vendors for help, haha. We found this online: "The first method is to look at the scales on the side of the pineapple. These are called eyes. If a pineapple has eyes of a uniform size all the way to the top, that's a good sign the pineapple is ripe. Avoid the ones where the eyes near the top are significantly smaller than the ones at the base." Maybe someone who knows better can comment?
