I found Delilah a few years ago in a time where I was coming out of severe depression. Her music helped me go into another world while I was struggling and I still feel so amazing when I go back and listen to her music. I hope one day she'll make it big because the world needs her art, voice, lyrics and soul

I am strong when I'm quiet I never let you see me stall I can hate what you say and still smile Only play on an open court I am the ringleader of my own circle Fall on my knees and I won't bleed Set me on fire and I'll fall to sleep The pain of my scolds sets me free I can not Breathe (yeah) Let me be free (yeah) from myself Drown me in silence and suddenly I'm floating I rip me apart with one look Use my heart as a crutch for my ego And hope that I never never fall in love I can not Breathe (yeah) Let me be free (yeah) from myself I must survive This wonderful punishment called life Use my heart and unravel it My innocence is all gone Torn apart and I can't handle it My innocence is all gone I can not Breathe (yeah) Let me be free (yeah) from myself I must survive This wonderful punishment called life This wonderful punishment called life

Been a Delilah fan for years. I love all music, all different types of artists. But there's something about this beautiful singer and her music that touches deep. I remember listening to this song when I was quite ill, mentally more than anything. I felt like I had strength when I played this song. I really hope one day she blesses the world with her wonderful talent again, whenever she's ready 💖

No, it's because a lot of us have a negative outlook on wearing our natural hair. We still think in our minds that our natural hair is bad hair. I wouldn't say it's cultural. It's a horrible stigma we have. Same goes for having dark skin. Back in the day during slavery and segregation, the lighter your skin was, the better opportunities you got. It also correlated with beauty so then we started to believe that if you were lighter, you were more beautiful. We still do, some of us.

It's because a lot of black people don't like the way their hair looks. That's a result of slavery. Because during slavery, a lot of our ancestors were told that our hair looks like pubs and that it was "nappy" therefore making out hair "bad hair" so many of us relax our hair or wear weaves or wigs to cover up our natural hair. That's one of the many things that comes from slavery that still affects us.

Yes, she would have been treated like a slave. It deals with American's general idea of what makes a black person. Usually when someone is mixed with black, we usually automatically consider them a black person. It's something we've adopted from slavery, and racial discrimination.

This song is such a beautiful song. I had a person that meant the world pass it on to me via text message and told me just this "I hope your listening with your heart" ... And with that I totally devoured it all up heart, mind, body and soul ... Still left me thinking did she ever .... Or ???? You know who you are and I can finally say I experienced love in all ways accept violent or angry - thank you it was beautiful xxx

@AyanaSioux
@AyanaSioux 12 жыл бұрын
It's not about slavery, it's about the racist society we live in. And what happened in slavery still affects black people today and one of the biggest problems we have is when people (even black people) don't realize that.

You really need to witness a Delilah gig - she is mesmeric! Delilah is in a completely different class to Chase & Status's mosh-pits; they are brilliant Drum & Base, and main stream producers etc. Where as, Delilah's music is more soulful and unique... she sings straight to your emotions and reaches deep inside....
@AyanaSioux
@AyanaSioux 12 жыл бұрын
But the reason we do it is because a lot of times mixed people choose sides, especially because of slavery. And sometimes white people still look at them as being more black than anything else.
@AyanaSioux
@AyanaSioux 12 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily, but there is more white than black in her. I looked it up. And I don't know where you're from, but in America, we go by the one drop rule (due to a slavery past).
