I’m in a 2023 T-680 and have the same Paccar engine and I was going through coolant as well and found a small leak on that lower hose which is plastic going to the radiator. The plastic hose also has two smaller hoses coming from it as well. Had to tighten up that clamp

I remember when I bought my 18 cascadia. It was leaking coolant an I found it was coming from my lower. Radiator hose. My truck keep telling me low coolant. I have a coolant leak now but it coming from the side my motor heater hose I fix that stuff. My self. Mine paid for. Also I have an apu. On my truck but it not running thru my Radiator system. The truck. If your running thru your truck check it back there for leaks. Also heater coils front an back can leak. Coolant. Mine was leaking in the back an front. Glad to see u doing well I see u always in the snow. Owner like me run down south . An out to NM. NV. Away from that snow stay safe.

I had where my Tri-Pac had a damaged coolant line which would cause loss of coolant in the system because the APU was interconnected with the truck's engine coolant circuit. So had to shut off both valves going to the APU and the loss of coolant stopped. Sure enough the service crew at the shop went into the APU's housing and a small line off of its water pump was split! 😊

If your adding coolant and can't see it leak, it's 99% a bad EGR cooler, happens all the time on MX--13's. Take it to a shop and have it pressure tested, if still no visible leaks the mechanics will know what to do, taking an EGR cooler of a pete is easy, 20-30 minutes.
@BruceConstantino-h1q9 ай бұрын
If you’re adding coolant constantly and you see no external leaks check for a bad head gasket 😊
@davepelfrey39589 ай бұрын
For sure, something not right. Check your engine oil when it's hot and see it is foamy or milky looking. If it is that's a bad sign.

Really lovin those red & pink nikes & outfit. The pizza looked really good as well. About that coolant thing. You should watch your temp gauge on dash as you drive and see if it shoots up quick or not. I have experienced the same thing with my vehicle and I am currently still going through the same thing. Is your temp gauge on your dash at the half way mark between hot and cold? if C is 0, 5 is the middle, and 10 is H. Where does your needle sit on the gauge? If its at 5 it should be balanced evenly between hot or cold. If that needle goes anything over like 6, 6.5 or 7 take it in and have them look at that immediately. I've had the same thing with no coolant leaks. Have them check the condenser censor and if they offer, do a pressure test for your coolant. To see how hot your coolant is getting. That temperature gauge lets you know how hot and cold your coolant is. So, if its close to hot it means your coolant is hotter than normal. Since you run a semi, its always running since you go from state to state. So, you probably got to get that checked out all the time since you are rackin up them miles like it ain't nothin. lol. The highest my gauge ever got was about a 7 to 7.5 and it had a check engine light. It couldn't have went any higher or my vehicle would of exploded because thats how hot it was. The fastest i could go was 30mph on a 65mph freeway. Thank God i made it to the maintenance shop. lol. Does your AC ever get too hot? or hotter than normal? When i took it in they replaced the condenser sensor and fixed the checked engine light. The gauge went back down to a 5, so it was balanced but it still gets hot after driving so many miles. Try to keep your heat mid temperature. I can't really go anything over 76F or it will get to hot. My AC gets hot at 74C. So, thats how you know somethin is up. I found out my model vehicle has a known heating issue. But, it hasn't always been like this. It can be a lot of things though. You can also check to see if you need a new power steering pump, exhaust or catalytic converter as well. Not sure if semis have all the exact same parts as an SUV, truck, or car. But, you can ask if you have somebody look at it. I hope this helps.

If it’s burning through coolant, check the fuel water separator, or EGR. If it’s not in your oil those are the only other two spots it could be without an external leak. But, it’s winter, your APU also runs off your main coolant system as well. So it will burn a bit more bc of winter time trying to keep everything warm.

If your truck is burning coolant only and it's not leaking anywhere its most likely going to be your EGR cooler. If it's burning oil and coolant it's a turbo issue. Keep it shiny side up and stay safe out there

hi Nia, I Googled ..'do modern tractor trailers still have traditional stick manual transmissions or automatics that sound manual?'. I never see you, or Becca or other truckers shifting so obviously there's automatic going on somehow though the sound still resonates manual. About the coolant issue, if there's no leak the coolant is just evaporating I would wonder. You're driving that Pete all over the place so I wouldn't wonder the engine needs a lot of coolant to keep cool even in winter. Do you mix your coolant with a small amount of water to stretch it just a tad, or is it all pure coolant? Again if you see no leaks, I would speculate just normal evaporation/consumption.🙂 You know your truck better than us, so good, observing what it's doing.😊
@deepseadirt19 ай бұрын
I just read through some of the other comments and the topic of busted head gasket is talked about. I agree that would be real serious if the engine oil was mixing with water, I would think something in the truck would alert you. You're right, better have that Pete looked at!😀

Hey young lady it will use coolant because it is a Peterbilt. If you have a Cummings engine that is what it does it just evaporates faster than others I work for Walmart and I have a 2023 Peterbilt and I have to put some in about every 3-4 weeks so not bad but hope that helps
