I don’t do snow chains either, even though they’re on the truck. I’ll always remember what my safety instructor said to us about 11 years ago,” If the weather gets to were you have to put chains on it’s time to shut it down!”

Hey Young Lady,$3 per mile may seem like alot, but you have to factor in deadhead, weight MPG,Road terrain e.t.c...everything associated with the operating cost of that truck, comes out of that $3 per mile. If you profit $900 for 2 days, that's $450 per day before you have to pay taxes & put up for maintenance. Not including what you need to pay yourself, and living expenses. Rule of thumb in a good market,is always aim for an average of $$1,000 per day or more. Budget real tight for the next 2 months, because then you will get the full picture on your Expenses. Also, never let them deadhead you 355 miles, that is alot of fuel to be using and not making any money. 150 should be the worse case scenerio. Just looking out, more to come from me !

Why do people bring up taxes? There’s no universal tax system. We all pay different amount of taxes. She might don’t have to pay any taxes on that $900 we don’t know her tax situations.

@@matusala8322 Taxes are a huge part of being a company lease driver. The US self-employment tax is 30%, 15.3% of gross is FICA which is mandatory. The balance is federal, State, and local. Everyone pays the same except for people that live and pay taxes in States that don't tax wage income.

In your paperwork organization: scan it when done as you usually do. Save the paperwork and store it, when near parents home, a relative, or your car, remove the oaperwork and save it until you know that you dont need it anymore. But for now, if you have to turn those papers in, hold onto them until you need to turn them in. Use the plastic case, or clipboard case, or briefcase to store the papers, in the meantime. Saving Receipts will be a pain in the butt, so you will need something bigger to save them if you get any reimbursement for that or just to keep for your taxes or whatwver reason you need them for.

Glad to see you are stepping up trying something new. Give ya a little advise slide that 5th wheel forward close that gap to help with fuel mileage. Another bit of advise learn your tricks fuel cost per mile. On average a trick that gets 6mpg with fuel prices at $5.00 per gallon has a operating cost of $1.00 per mile. When you get your trucks fuel cost per mile figured you can cut your fuel expenses on each load to increase your net profit.

For your paperwork. After every washout, tractor wash, fuel, scale etc.. on all of your receipts for that trip write down your trip number and date plus tractor number. Also keep a trailer record as well. Write down the times you begin your trip and arrives to your various stops, drops n hooks and terminals, customers, and drop yards. It might seem like alot more paperwork, but it will be worth it in the long run. At some point pickup an auto receipt scanner for your lap top to keep on a file.

It is simple, but it will be a pain. You can do it! I am sure that you will be prepared driving in ice/snow, but you will become comfortable over time. Dont be scared, you will master cold time driving. Start out slow and easy and get used to it.

Just curious how your weight has been on these heavy loads. Looks like your fifth wheel needs to be moved forward until your trailer is straight over the front forward tandems. I drove 10 years and never used chains, if the roads were that bad I found a place to park for awhile until conditions improved. Just too risky to chance it, other drivers could hit you. Just my too cents worth. Love seeing Palm and hang in there girl. Peace ✌.

If you are talking about the trip sheet, you should get that started as soon as you get the load assignment on your PRIME app. The customer code is on there for your 01. Don't put your 90 on there until you deliver it, in case you get repowered or drop it at a drop yard. Get some big envelopes, like the ones that Driver Lineup uses to put your paperwork in. I used to write the trip number on mine when I drove for PRIME. My driver code was LOZAA for umpteen years. I miss PRIME, but...

As a former trucker, I would like to say that your work ethic seems to be good and consistent. Trucking is a tough bizness and you seem to be able to stick with it if you want to do it. Even though you've been in the biz a couple years, you don't know it but you've still got much to learn. Hard to believe you're making videos as you are on the clock and rolling down the road. That's DANGEROUS. For you and those on the road with you. You appearance is probably exciting to those checking you out at the truck stops, but low cut tank tops, etc is unprofessional. Strapless Crocs are the same as flip-flops on your feet. Hope you don't have to slam on brakes sometime! Your comment: "OMG, these people aren't letting me on the highway!" is very telling. It is YOUR responsibility to get up to speed and merge into traffic. I hope you are successful in the trucking biz and that you become a skilled truck driver.

Remember,COLD weather you will get less fuel economy. When filling your fuel tamks, figure the distance you need to travel divide it by your MPG put that much fuel in the tank,or fill up at a half a tank. Fuel will be your 2nd expense next to maintenance. DON'T feel the need to fill up your tanks all tbe way at every stop, Unless you will be traveling across 80 alot.

In certain states, California for instance, you might be required to apply your autosocks or cables because the highway patrol won't let you just sit there and wait for the thaw. Some of them will write you a ticket and call you a tow truck. Their law won't let you decline that, and you'll have to pay the tow truck before they release you. Another thing, in Arkansas, Wyoming, and I can't remember what other state, you cannot park on the right of way on the highway or the ramps. But if you know PRIME rules, you'll know that PRIME doesn't allow shoulder or ramp parking in any state.

Send you a statement weekly or biweekly that has all expenses that is bought through prime or any lease company so you don’t need to keep track of that too much you do have to save anything that you’re purchasing with your own money that is ran through the business mostly food and entertainment so you don’t have to get too crazy filing paperwork your biggest expenses are fuel and tires just a little insight I’ve been trucking 30 years with 16 years of owning theses things wish you the best luck
