After muting the head while setting up the bobbin, does this stop the receiver going for the same period of time?

Sadly no I wish it did. I bought a full kit last spring the receiver still makes sound.

The receiver is not muted. This is for security reasons as anyone could mute the alarms and take your alarms and unless you saw the flashing lights you'd have no idea it had happened.
