Hi I have a docking station before which has a power button and the way to turn everything on is by pressing the power button on the docking station which will power up the laptop and all the monitors. However I have D6000 recently and realized there's no power button and the only way to power everything is that I must power up my laptop from the laptop power button. Is that how it works for you too?

Hi, Thanks for the video. I want to understand that what is the use of a docking station when I can directly connect my monitor to laptop and use it as an extension display. Any additional benefits?

You can use only one usb-c port on your laptop - have charging, connect multiple monitors to docking station and also any your accessories like mouse, keyboard, mics, external drives etc can be connected to dock. So in general you can easily achieve 'one cable' setup if you into that. Again less hassle, less cables to plug/unplug.

I have one Monitor conected via HDMI to Mac mini m1. The other monitor is connected via Display Port in the D6000 dock. After every reboot it doesn't detect the monitor connected to the Dock. If I take the USB C Cable off and reconnect, it works. Is there a way to resolve this issue?

What is the length of the USB C/USB 3 cable coming out of the docking station. Just looking at it and how my desk is configured, I would have to loop the cable like the letter 'U' to have it reach my laptop because the cable comes out from the side. I do not have the ability to move my laptop to the other side of my desk.

is there any option to stop charging from the docking station C charger? I don't want the system always in charging mode.

You dont have to worry, usb c charging wont damage your battery.

Thank you so much for this video as I'm considering purchasing this device. By any chance, when you use this with a laptop, can you close the laptop? I currently have my laptop setup next to and plugged directly into my 24" monitor. What I would like to do is to be able to close the laptop instead of having it open as it takes up real estate on my office desk. If you know the answer that would be great. Thanks again for sharing.

you can even do it now, you need to configure it in the power management options, right-click on the battery icon in the tray -> Power Options -> on the right pane "Choose what closing the lid does" and set to do nothing when plugged in :)

@@decanaba Thanks so much. This is exactly what I wanted to do. Best of all, I don't need to buy a docking station. I even asked Dell and Best Buy and all they could suggest was to get a docking station. Ah computers, softwear and Tecnology, so amazing and sometimes so frustrating! 😊

Hmm, interesting. I tried to connect Galaxy S8 phone to this D6000 docking station. Results: - fast charging - on phone - USB for file transfers option etc - on phone - I can change audio output - phone or dock - Samsung SmartThings is active (if any use) - no video on any monitors connected to dock I believe to have Galaxy DEX experience dock needs to be compatible. And dell never committed supporting DEX. Another idea - connect DEX dock to D6000 docking station (daisy chain) to see how DEX will react to dock and two monitors.

How was wondering whats the best way to set up two monitors to the D6000? I'm using an XPS 15 9650 and Dell Support has no idea what they're doing... and neither do I.

What monitors do you have - resolution and connectors? Your XPS 15 9650 i.dell.com/sites/imagecontent/products/PublishingImages/xps-15-9560-laptop/laptop-xps-15-pdp-polaris-12.jpg Ports - 6. HDMI |7. Thunderbolt™ 3 Easiest - just use these two monitors cables - HDMI to one monitor, and Thunderbolt 3 to HDMI/Displayport/DVI (depends on your monitor connectors) for another monitor. In your case I would recommend to stay away from this D6000 dock - it's only USB-C (not Thunderbolt 3 as you have). It's the worst equipment I've ever had. The screens suddenly stopped working on mac. Nothing make them come back. For windows works ok.

If I'm not mistaken they didn't officially support Mac for this dock. So your experience may vary.
