Logitech has a number of mice and keyboards that let you connect them to up to 3 computers with the touch of a button. For example, this mouse: amzn.to/3AoRIgr and this keyboard: amzn.to/3AoRYfp However, that does not share screens with multiple computers. To do that easily, you need a KVM switch. KVM stands for Keyboard, Video and Mouse. You can see those devices by using this link: amzn.to/3YtWD7V Hope that helps!

I want to go off one hub almost full to another side of the desk where I want to do one monitor and two additional usb to serial addapters.
@NerdSidekick6 ай бұрын
Theoretically, it should work, but you will have to experiment. Power could be an issue if you are using a bus-powered hub (gets power through the USB cable instead of a separate power adapter). You could just use a single hub and get some long monitor cables or long USB cables (or both).

Thank you for the very thorough video. Could you confirm for me, before I spend money, that this solution would work with a built in display adapter as opposed to an expensive graphics card. My Dell workstation only has an Intel UHD Graphics 630 display adapter. Documentation says it can only support 3 monitors. I have 2 DisplayPorts and 2 USB 3 ports available but would like to use 4 monitors. Will the display adapter even be able to output video through the USB 3 port?
@NerdSidekick2 ай бұрын
To output video through the USB ports, you will need something like the USB to HDMI adapter I demonstrate in the video. amzn.to/4c1hsNI So, with two DisplayPort ports on the computer, plus the two USB ports, you can probably output to four monitors.

I've got a little challenge for you :). The video is great, but it does not cover one special case: Many people have 2 Laptops - one private and one for work. Is there a device we could add somewhere in between, which allows you to connect both Laptops and then on a button press change the USB and Video input? I think that there should docking stations capable of doing so. For example, I currently use a USB Device, that lets me change all USBs (mouse, keyboard, headphones - which are connected to it) on button press and jump between private laptop and work Laptop, which is currently using them. But it only works if you want to quickly change USBs. Here the solution must be more advanced, we would also need to change HDMIs, so all the Monitors on button press. Have you seen anything like this during your research?

It could be that the USB C port you are plugged into does not support DisplayPort video, which is probably required for the USB C hub or docking station to display video on a monitor. Check the specs for the USB C port on your computer to determine if it provides DisplayPort.

@NerdSidekick2 ай бұрын
Yes, the docking station will work on any computer, as long as it has a USB-C port. But that port must support DisplayPort video for the dock to let you add monitors. Most desktop computers will have at least two video ports built-in, so if you only need two monitors, this docking station may not be necessary.

Can you revisit the 800x600 monitor? If we adjust the resolution on the other monitors, can we increase the resolution on the 800x600 one?
@NerdSidekick3 ай бұрын
I don't think that will help, at least in my case. The version of DisplayPort that my laptop supports is not fully compatible with this docking station. To get the max resolution when using this docking station, your laptop must support DisplayPort 1.4 via the USB C port. My laptop, being older (2019), did not support this version, so I believe that is the reason it would not work at the higher resolutions.

Most likely it will work. The USB C port has to support DisplayPort (not all USB C ports do). Thunderbolt ports should support DisplayPort, and there are inexpensive converters that work with those if this docking station does not, for some reason.

That depends on what your definition of a "splitter" is. Normally, a splitter is a device that duplicates the same output to two or more monitors. So, a single signal comes into the splitter and two or more copies of that signal are output to multiple monitors. This does NOT output a different signal to each monitor.

@NerdSidekick3 ай бұрын
Your type C port needs to support DisplayPort. You can look at the port to see if it shows a DisplayPort logo next to it (letter D with a P inside it). Not all ports will have the logo even if they do support DisplayPort. Or check the manual that came with the computer or find it online. Or ask the manufacturer if the port supports DisplayPort.
