Dell G3 15 3550 Budget Gaming Laptop Part 1: System Overview

Back in December 2020 I picked up a Dell G3 15 3500 gaming laptop used on eBay as a Christmas present for my Dad to replace the aging ThinkPad T420 he was using. In this video we explore the features and the internals of the machine as well as look through the BIOS and set up Windows 10 Home.

Make sure to keep on top of maintenance with these guys, my sisters 17" G3 seemed to want to swallow all the dust in the world. The filters don't work so well unfortunately.

These Dell gaming devices are really nice; I have never encountered one in the flesh... yet, but I hope to. As a nod to the decade-old devices... I have two; a Dell PowerEdge T110, and a dell Latitude D630. Both turn on, though the server's having an issue at this point. My Latitude D630 has all original parts, I think, and while slow as hell,it does work. Runs some Linux variant.

Yeah I do like Dell products, that's partially why I chose this over the Asus & MSI Ryzen laptops I was shopping against, well that and the six-core i7 processor over the quad-core Ryzen ones. I've got a few Dell machines kicking about, a Latitude C610, Latitude D505 and a Precision M4300 (a fancy Latitude D830), I also chose a Dell XPS 15 9550 for my sister a few years ago when she needed a new laptop. I like them quite a bit and so far this G3 has worked very well for my father, I hope it lasts as he tends to wear stuff out very quickly.

No. I do not download leaked builds as well as the leaked build will only install in a VM, not on real hardware.
