I got so lucky, I bought through amazon a Dell 7000 series for like 470 dollars, but for some reason it seems it was out of stock or whatever and they sent me a Dell g3 instead (just like the one reviewed in the video) so I basically payed 470 dollars for it and is just good as new, how lucky!

ordered the 17in version with 1060maxq....can you tell me a bit about overclocking the display? also, I think a good repaste may solve your temps issue. Its a very thin laptop with some high end hardware, hopfully the 17in cools a tad bit better.

Supposing the g3(1tb hdd & 4gb ram)is priced at 950 usd and plan to upgrade the ram to 8 gb ram and 256 m.2 ssd which would cost to 1075 usd. While the g7 with 8gb ram and 1tb sshd with the same price of 1075 usd what you pick? Both have i5 8300h and gtx1050.

i got the 1050ti version for 580 and put in a 250 ssd for 50 and overall love it, especially in white with the minimal design. and it feels really sturdy for plastic.

You have to get the GTX 1060 version of this laptop in order to get Thunderbolt 3. The regular base model like mine does not have it.

The one I bought from a dell store came with only 4gb of RAM, i5, and 1tb hard drive. I tried to use Adobe premiere pro cc and it's lagging and would say 'not responding'. I also noticed that it takes about a minute or two to boot up, and even just by right clicking the desktop, the box where i can do refresh takes 2 to 3 seconds. I'm not very techy and I just want to do video editing (not 4k stuff) What do I need to do to make this laptop faster? Appreciate your help!

From my experience with hard drives vs ssd, its mostly double the times,e.g. on ssd, system boots in 15-20 sec, while on hdd 40+sec. Same applies to apps

G7 offers a better package overall. However, the G3 has a more power efficient Intel Core i5-8300H and much better price. I would vote for the G3. If you have a Micro Center near you than I would get the $800 on sale G3 it has a GTX 1060 and a Core i5-8300H. The regular retail price is $930. That's an excellent value. I will keep you guys posted on any new sales and promotions I see. Thank you
