Nice and thorough. I have an Inspiron 13 7000. I've replaced the fan twice and it still overheats and makes loud noises. I think the fan barings are getting melted. Any ideas?
@ItsBinhRepaired14 күн бұрын
@@TheDeathInTheAir that's not possible. You likely need to redo the thermal paste.

@@ItsBinhRepaired I did not see any thermal paste on the fan you put in. Are you referring to the heat pipe that covers the CPU?

Very nice of you to do this video for us to see. I am getting an error message that the fan is not working. I suspect I will need to replace the fan and should be able to do it per your video. Ever sense I bought my laptop and dock station, I have put the laptop in a cradle which holds it in an upright position. The cradle does not cover any of the holes that may provide air or the place where the heat can exhaust. I felt the laptop would cool better in the cradle rather than laying on the desk and taking up space, however I remember one time when I called dell regarding an issue with the YiFi not working with the wireless mouse and wireless keyboard, I mentioned that I had made a real nice cradle to hold the laptop upright . The guy I was talking to said, "Dell does not recommend using the laptop in a cradle or in the upright position". Now after having this issue with the fan, I bet Dell knows that the fan will last longer, meaning the bearings or bushing the fan turns on when the laptop is laying flat. If this it true, maybe it will help others to know what might be causing the fan to run slow or not at all. Yes, dust can get in and cause problems too, but just maybe using the laptop when connected to a Dock Station in the a cradle is not a real good idea. Again, thanks for the great video. I will look into making a contribution.

Glad it helped. Yeah, running the computer at an angle can mess up the fan because gravity is always trying to pull it level. Hopefully replacing the fan will work.
@UNITED20091002 жыл бұрын
@@ItsBinhRepaired "at an angle" is spot on. Most of the desktop computers have or used to have "box type fans" mounted upright directed at the power supply which I think was a source of heat along with the processor. I think the fan in my Inspiron laptop can still be called a box fan because of the way it's built. I hope that running it upright is OK. Using the laptop as a 2 in 1 and sometimes standing it up in an upside down V could have been my problem. That puts the fan at "an angle" rather than flat or up right. Maybe people should not stand their 2 in 1 up in a upside down V. I did that while streaming ball games through the HDMI port to the TV. I will no longer do that. Again, thanks for a great job. Your work speaks for itself. You are honest, do a great job and people who need something done should give you the job. Good work deserves good pay as well. Take Care.

Nice video helping me take apart my laptop but my laptop makes a constant noise every time it heats up a little bit almost like a car trying to start and it’s constant, I believe it’s because of my fan. When I took apart the laptop and checked the fan, there wasn’t really that much dust on it. Does this mean I have to replace my laptop fan ? Because it clearly doesn’t work anymore
