this laptop whenever i got it genuinely surprised me. It’s very nice and the backlit keyboard is great, and it’s 2 in 1 and touch screen, so a beast when it comes to work. But whenever i downloaded some games for on the go and stuff, o m g. It can run Minecraft at an average 60 FPS and with a higher end game, like rocket league, it ran 65! I guess the only downside I had was the fan is fairly loud when i start up games even when the computer is cool. However, this is a lower end laptop, and the trackpad is underwhelming, so i just use a regular mouse. Overall, it’s a pretty nice budget laptop in my opinion. nice review as well!

I can 100 % vouch for this 360 hinge form factor, although this particular laptop is very underwhelming. If you want to just consume content on the go, the tent and tablet modes will make the device's footprint much smaller. For example I can watch videos in my very small kitchen while cooking because of the tent mode. Watching movies on the train with the tablet mode is quite excellent (provided a bright screen) as I can easily switch seating position & screen angle. And when it's time to get stuff done (or do some light gaming), the laptop mode is there.

I think you missed the mark on the reasoning behind the Zen 2 usage. Part of it is fulfilling supply (and using unsold supply they might still be contractually required to get). But look at what the odd numbered chips were last year. HT disabled versions of the higher even numbering. While Zen 3 has a significant performance increase in single core. The MT performance of using HT enabled chip is going to be a wash or maybe even slightly better. Customers (OEMs) still have options for lower priced Zen3 U chips, but by offering the 4800 as a 5700, they also let them decide to prioritize MT performance in their ULV CPU's if they want to go that route. Personally while the naming scheme may have people confused on what chip they are getting, it seems a better solution than 4 separate chips with just haphazardly lowered core speeds and cache settings to create some kind of segmentation for no reason. I get why Intel does, they have production that will allow them to have millions of CPU's per sku. AMD not so much and it doesn't seem to be the type segmentation they are a fan of doing.

This seems like a paid Asus content. I've been using this for like 3-4 months now and have used the Zenbook 13 too. The trackpad takes a day or two to get used to but it's actually a pretty decent trackpad. I don't use a mouse nor do I intend to buy one. Plus it has gestures in the mouse pad which help in easy navigation. For the display, it's not too different from the Envy or the Zenbook 13. Yes, it's not as good as an XPS but that's obvious. In the real world scenario if you're consuming content, you won't even get to know the difference. For the keyboard, it'll take you a couple of days to get used to this layout as it's compact but the keys aren't so small which in practice is more comfortable than the XPS. Yes the keys have a shorter travel but once you're used to this you'll find other keyboards just take more effort to type since the shorter travel makes it really light on your fingers. Battery life is around 10+ similar to Envy and Zenbook and performance is actually pretty good. I think they need to do a long term review for this device than just a 15 min first impression because within the first 15 mins even I felt I wasn't comfortable.

@@proxfreddy9707 I haven't played Dota on this yet bro. I've played games and everything works fine as per the specs you expect. You'll get slightly better gaming performance to an Envy 13 due to the 5500U/5700U

I watched the full review and feel the same that this guy is trying harder to find cons in dell Inspiron. Anyway despite the negative review I just ordered it.

PLZ REPLY I bought a i5 512gb version. It's just a day old. I turned it on now and it doesn't work. Like it's so slow setting took 20 minutes to open. Any idea what's wrong?

This is confusing as some reviews cite this as having 100% srgb. Are you in the States? I'm in the UK.

I have the previous gen of this, with a R5 4500U. There were only two things I didn't like about it, and those were poor cooling, and poor screen brightness. I see that this newer generation has developed track pad and USB problems. It has also lost its barrel power connector, while not gaining anything, and trading its full sized SD card for a micro SD. I also see that Dell has upgraded the cooling with dual heatpipes. The previous gen only has a single heatpipe, which was inadequate. I don't think I've every had my 4500U version ever completely lock up on me, or have any of the issues you ran into. I'm kinda happy I didn't wait for the newer gen.

I just returned a very good priced asus zenbook flip 13 oled 16/512 model and the issue I had with it was that the 16:9 screen just dont work as a tablet. It is simply to narrow. So returned it and am waiting for the ms surface pro 8 or maybe I will snap up an asus flow x. As this has an 16:9 screen it will also be a bad tablet experience.

I love my Asus ROG Flow x13, just be aware that there is a model with an on board 3050 Ti (still not great for gaming, but at least it now supports DLSS) at the same price as the original model ($1500) but it isn't with the XG Mobile; that $2800 bundle still has the 1650 GPU on board... Also know that the serious BSOD bug I mentioned elsewhere in the comments effects every Windows 2 in 1 with Edge at the moment (although it's software related).

Looking to buy this laptop but dell's website says it has 1 USB 4.0 type C with power delivery + display port is their a way to confirm this ? Your review says otherwise.
@redoctober20262 жыл бұрын
I am using the unit with Ryzen 5 5500U. It has USB C port for data + power delivery. Bought a USB C Hub to connect to USB C port (to connect HDMIs, USB C or USB A or micro SD etc). Only snag is, due to the USB C hub, 65W charger delivers 57W. So, I bought an extra USB C charger of 90W. Now, no problem at all. Added more ram to 16GB and increased the storage to 1 TB (Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1TB). All working well indoor. 👍

What an awful product. For 1000$ you get a zen 2 processor, a keyboard that is “fine”, a trackpad and buttons that are “a joke” a single power plan, a 1080p “poor” display with ONLY 240 nits (wtf?), random crashes in tent mode, and single core performance behind all the competition. What is dell smoking here?
@cameronbosch12133 жыл бұрын
The crashes may or may not be an issue with Windows 10 and Edge, but regarding everything else you said, that is indeed on Dell. They can't make a good laptop anymore without serious compromises.

I bought last year's Intel version (11th gen i5 no I don't know which one) of this laptop and the battery is 4 hours using Google docs. Just 3 chrome tabs for 4 hours and it's dead. Quite disappointing that gaming laptops that cost the same as this with triple to house power can get better battery. It not defective I have 2. The battery is set to max eco in both windows and Dell's power manager. It's just bad

Not interested in a Zen2 CPU 5700U = 4800U. People buying this probably need single-core performance, not multicore. I will stick with 1135G7 or 1165G7. They are 15-25% in single-core and 4 core are more than enough for most people. EDIT - Should have watched the full video
@Kareem-cx4fi3 жыл бұрын
5700u over a 1135g7 easily. 1165g7 depending on what applications you run. Yes, most applications are single core, but also these processors are so fast you would not be able to tell the difference in performance for lightly threaded tasks which, is what most CPU tasks are. Only time you would tell the difference is if you have a long running single core task, then intel would clearly win which is what you see in single core benchmarks. There are very few of such task scenarios in real world use. Intel has 4 very fast cores and AMD has 8 fast cores. Since Intel has less cores, each core would usually have more work to do than a AMD 8 core where it's more likely to have a core that has very little or nothing in queue resulting in similar or better performance from a real world use when the operating system has to schedule tasks. It's not as simple as saying Intel has better single core performance especially for light weight task when each core is already balancing a load of work so even if a core is faster, if it's utilization is 40% and the AMD core is 10% because it has more cores to share the work of everything going on the system, the lightly threaded task which are the most, would run quicker most times on a 5700u than a 4 core varient.

@@Kareem-cx4fi like i said most people. I know AMD has better multicore performance. I work at bestbuy and 80% of customer I have are using it for school/office and application mostly end being chrome and office or accounting software.
@Kareem-cx4fi3 жыл бұрын
@@avimakkar you are missing the point... I am not talking application level of a single app, I am talking about the operating system managing the entire system and all apps on the CPU. Chrome and all web browsers in general are HEAVILY multi threaded FYI. I write software for a living.
@Kareem-cx4fi3 жыл бұрын
@@avimakkar most laptop reviewers are content creators, not computer scientist by trade. I have noticed they all use statements like single threaded tasks and put web browser in the same bracket.. They read a lot of stats and go off benchmarks but don't understand how a operating system manges programs and tasks on a CPU and end up with a lot of conclusions that are not completely correct...
