At 8:00 , replay it frame by frame until exactly at the first frame of 8:01. The battery is a CR2032.

Thanks a lot Chris 👍 The keyboard 3 ribbons part was the hardest as I didn't want to damage it. Somehow I slide it in and put the black latch on it. Now no beeps and time date too stays intact on every boot. Thanks for the help n tutorial. ✌️Also if anyone is unable to get the keyboard out just take a very small flat head screwdriver and slide it in 4 minor gaps on top of keyboard and instead of pushing up try twisting it slowly (read somewhere that there r springs in it.) Tried twisting it at those 4 gaps and keyboard just came up on it own. Thanks again. And take pictures on every stage so u don't miss any reconnection at any stage. Just for safety. Good luck all.

OMG, I'm going to drill an access door, and cover it with a pretty little sticker - A 1" wooden paddle bit should suffice in that plastic cover directly over the battery! Maybe even3D print a little cover bung...

Thank you so much for making this! I found your video as I was angrily trying to remove the palmrest because the only other tutorial jump cut every three seconds. I also wouldn’t have known how to pop out the cmos without seeing you do it.

it is VERY easy to break the ribbon cable clamps. i broke the one that holds the touchpad ribbon cable. i didn't even use very much pressure, just lifted it up normal, and after i finished replacing the battery and was putting the computer back together that clamp is loose and the touchpad doesn't work.

If anyone experiences no power after changing the cmos, make sure the ribbon like connectors under the keyboard are all properly fitted (there are two for this dell computer, not including the one that powers the keyboard)

Thank you. I was getting so freaking annoyed at this thing. It's FAR to much to undo just to gain access to the board.

Agree, I just found this video searching for a how-to on a 17" version. The battery is half exposed just popping off the first little back panel, but you can't easily removed even so as the main base covers it so closely. With a slight cut out in the plastic panel to give full access, it would have been a 5 minute job!

Hey, is there any possibility for damage, if I change the CMOS battery by myself? I have never done anything like this before.
@thomastommy98643 жыл бұрын
There's always a possibility of damage, even when a professional changes it out. Less likely though if a pro does it. If you do it, take your time and watch every step. It can be done by a noob.

What a poor design of this laptop. I have an Inspiron 15 3541 model here with a dead CMOS battery. It's only a 2015 model, and that little coin is dying, already!? These things should last at a minimum 10 years in these computers. They must have a excess power drain somewhere in their schematic. Shame on you, Dell!

Dell be like, "Battery life expectancy of a BIOS battery = 5 years. Let's engineer a laptop that will self destruct when the battery expires with a 100 decibel annoying alarm, and make it so hard to get to the battery that it takes a service call to repair." The previous models had an access door for the consumables. This is what happens when folks get paid too much money... They become greedy and lose sight of reality... Greed will consume you, remember that... greed will never get enough, one can never be happy... In reality, the PC does not actually need a BIOS battery to function properly, they run just fine without them, assuming the manufacturer didn't plant a booby trap for a service call... Once you replace the .45 cent battery with a new one, the beeping stops... go figure... a $200 truck roll for a 99 cent part...
