Plugged it in using 5VDC/1A power brick and put a metal Dremel in backwards. Polished off the chrome with 1000 grit sand paper and it worked great. What is the white soldering powder (or is it flux) you are using? But I have to ask, why not sell some of these tools on the site when you have so many people asking for them? Or maybe put monetized links in the video description? Great job, looking forward to more works or art, not just the repair but the videography and editing as well.

It looks to just be a long black (probably magnetic) screwdriver they're spinning around against the residual to make it come off

Google “electric glue removal tool” or “OCA glue removal tool”. They are not that expensive.

why the original ram chip cannot be heated dissembled and needed to be milled out away?

@@ray-charc3131 128 GB does not have much value to these people in 2024
@LindonSlaght8 ай бұрын
@@ray-charc3131 because there is glue under it that would damage the board if it was removed that way. Believe me, CNC is not easier than just heating and lifting off, if it could be done either way it'd be done with heat.

Nice work! But will it be cheaper than buying directly a 1tb version? And I can forget about the warranty, right? :D
@querela924 ай бұрын
@DasKroenerTier warranty probably voided. I guess Apple might track the hardware configurations using serial numbers. Whether this is detected when someone repairs it, who knows. And if I know someone who can do mods like this, repairs can probably be done, too. So, unless it is completely unrecoverable... As for costs, it might be a bit cheaper. But this really looked professional.
