I have to replace the fan, I can go ahead with disassembling but put them all back together is the problem. How do I remember the reverse and orderly steps ? It is hard ! However this is an excellent video. Thanks

I just need to clean the fan. Do I really have to remove all of those components of the laptop? Sounds too excessive.

Have you been able to definitively ascertain where the 5321-5521-5537 chassis family actually draws in air for the fan? The only two places I can see are the mesh grill around the memory-hdd area, which would make sense, plus it would explain why there is no inlet directly below the fan (to force air through all the components and motherboard too) and the tiny slit underneath the exhaust port, which I don't think makes sense because: A: There is a groove in the plastic that look like it was meant to serve as a gasket groove B: The fan seems to rest on that groove anyway C: I have tested actually putting a foam gasket in that groove to eliminate potential noise from fan vibration and it didn't affect cooling (same temperatures as before) I am still skeptical about whether C was a good idea which is why I am asking this question. Do you think that slit can actually be an intake?

I can't say for sure without seeing the laptop but, I would guess you need to replace the DVD ROM.
