Used this video to help me replace the drive. Can't say I am a fan of the Dell 3558 laptop though. It's a pain to get to the drive compared to other laptops I have replaced drives in.

Hi. I have a dell 3558. I'm trying to install a ssd on it. I cloned its old hd. I'm able to boot from ssd only if it is plugged on dell's usb. If I install the ssd internally (the sata slot of the hd) the bios does not recognize the ssd (neither uefi or legacy). I run out of options. Could you please tell me what should I have to check? Why ssd is not recignized by sata slot?

I also have Inspiron 3558 and gotten error code 142 when starting the computer. Seems like I need to change my Hard drive. Planning to change to SSD. As far I know, the HDD I have in 3558 is an unique hard drive. Swapping out the current HDD will wipe out everything including the OS. Does the Windows re-install after I change the SSD (Like official Windows 10 with fully activated)?

hello raju 1-Enter setup ( press f10 ) 2-go to boot options 3-display the secure boot 4-chang UEFI boot option to LEGACY boot option 5-save and reboot 6-bios well ask you to enter 4 digits + enter that's all good luck

hello shubh this model (dell 3558 ) is interlevel, you can upgrade SSD driver or RAM 4G+4G=8G, but you can't upgrade board cpu and gpu :-(

No, you need 250G our higher and it will fit. 169GB usage and 65GB free.

Hello eShamsTech, thank you very much for this video. I'm interesting to install SSD drive into my Inspiron 3558. However I'd like to keep original HDD and to put SSD to DVD bay. I simply don't use DVD that much and think it would be better idea than to disassemble everything to exchange HDD. This way I could put SSD smaller capacity (cheaper) just for Windows OS. Can you please suggest what kind of DVD bay I need to buy for this laptop in order to ensure perfect fit? Thank you!

Does it mean that dvd sata slot is somewhoe different and can cause system instability if the system disk is connected to it?
