Dell Inspiron N5010 Plugged in Not charging solved.

Thanks for the video - it inspired me to fix my dell 5559 laptop which has this issue. In the 5559 issue it blew a FET along with the protection diode so I had to replace PD3 and PQ6. The schematics for it are available online. This failure had also broken the single-wire comms in the charger and so I had to also replace the charger. With those changes the laptop is now back up and charging again. Phew!

This diod is optional no problem if you don’t use it more then 200 laptop i fix this problem without this diod there still working fine. N5110 you need to download schematic and you can find it on charging port board thanks.

I have a similar problem with my e7470. Instead of removing, I decided to put in a new diode. Mine was a 5V diode pair.

I also have the problem that the charging LED won't turn on, but it powers on the connected computer without issues, and it recognizes the battery. I already checked the process in the video and apparently everything is fine with the diode, so in this case, is it recommended to replace the battery?

what would cause that diode to go bad? also what is the role of the diode you removed? and what risks have you assumed the customer would be ok with? can it now catch on fire? or is this just a matter of making sure you use a dell psu?

i found a burnt diode on the underneath side by the charging port called ...well i dont know it has 3 numbers by it: p04202, p04201, p04406

It's a shotky diode. It protects mother board from high voltage or spike due to fualty adaptor and reversed polarity
