Yes MOSFET or driver. I would check instead with a 3V or 5V supply on the gate pin. But only if there is series res to the driver IC. Otherwise you blow the output stage. Most start today only with a battery present bocz there are unswapable.

I am working on an Inspiron 5755 thst I have worked on before and same issue now. Lady didn’t want to spend any $$ in it and gave to me. Taking apart I can do blindfolded. Have basic electronic experience and will see if the Monet here. This model year was known dot problems. But if can get working I’m ahead of game. Thanks.

Plz explain the p channel mosfet. The functionality of drain gate source. And the difference between n channel and p channel. Which pin voltage goes to the chip and which pin it comes out in each.

How you know if the signal on the gate of the mosfet is ok to let it work Alex??

He measured the Gate voltage (about 13V, if I remember right from the Video). Since Source terminal is at 18.3V, Vgs is NEGATIVE (about -6V) and this is the condition for a P-channel MOSFET to turn on, making Vds almost equal to zero. So Vd should be 18.4V, but this did'nt happen due to the failure....and the MOSFET was to be replaced. Hope to have clarified. Regards from Italy.

hello i was wondering if you can help me my latitude 7480 was overheating so replace it with brand new thermal i did all of the proper safe procedures when disassmbling the labtop from wearing anti static wrist latext gloves removing the internal battery , cmos battery holding the power button down for a min to drain whatever power that is left disassemble the heat sink fan removing the thermal paste from the cpu gently and lightly as possible where i dont damage or scratch the cpu and video chip put new thermal paste and installed everything back and now it doesnt turn with or without the charger just now power idk what could be the problem all i did was remove the thermal from the cpu so i went back to what ive done remove the thermal off the cpu and video chip got a flashlight and a magnifying glass to thoroughly check the cpu and video chip and theres no scratches ,dings,etc both are fine ive been doing this for years this is the first time ive had this problem before i would appreciate it very much if you or anyone can help me and tell me what could be the problem my labtop is a DELL LATITUDE 7480 i7-6600U looking forward to hear from you or anyone here that can help me with this problem .

I have the Dell Latitude E7470 similar issue I believe, how much do you repair this issue? In my case the battery doesn't appear to charge and the computer will not boot, although it does come up to the BIOS and startup F2 F12 options. Power led on front is on when plugged in which is also odd.

Some dell models have another problem, I'm not sure u have a solution for that, they don't power on unless you remove the internal battery and connect it again

19V rail has standard first and second mosfet and a current resistor right after these to start with, these are intended to protect the mainboard from a broken or bad charger with wrong polarity.
