Hey there are you able to show how you troubleshoot the problems with a step by step with the tools. For example turning the multimeter to this setting and we should be expecting this. The more technical you go the better :D Love hearing your knowledge and experience. Keep up the great content

MOSFET that you replace was part of switching power supply, so if you remove bottom transistor ( between GND and PSU output before coil) 19V will go directly as PSU output voltage, because there is no regulation to pull voltage down and circut powered by that PSU will die.
@glmnet3 жыл бұрын
he said it was a dual mosfet, so actually the whole line went out of service, likely auxiliar one, for usb or something
@solveit13043 жыл бұрын
@@glmnet nope, switching power supply is always build with two MOSFETs, one between main rail and output and another between output and GND. Then chip called driver will switch that 2 mosfets to create square wave, then coil and bypass caps smooth signal for desired voltage. So you could get any voltage from 19V in that way. Multiple switching power supply circuit are used on laptop motherboard to generate 1.8V for RAM, around 1V for CPU, 3V / 5V always to power on computer ( voltage on power button always on) and so on. That's why you see large amount of big grey SMD coils on laptop motherboards today, they are all part of different switching power supply.

I have a problem with my x360 , it's the 4500u version, it does not so old but has the issue that cannot charge and does not power on, barely times i was able to charge but not completely. I've tested the AC adapter and AC port with other parts and nothing. Do you think is caused by a damaged mosfet?

It seemed that the damage to Mosfet was transferred to (or from) the soldered area under, is that normal?

How possibly did you had so much confidence in charging it and then power it on WITHOUT a component? (It's a genuine question, no critics of any sort)
@alreed24343 жыл бұрын
Guessing the short didn't allow it to do anything before. If it turns on the short is gone, he could've measured across the traces where the mosfet resided to check for short as well.
