Hmm... I wonder if windows 10 installed the wrong battery drivers which in turn made the laptop battery performace worse... Windows 7 is still the best operating system ever in my opinion though-Aside from XP. I run windows 7 on both my Dell Vostro 1520 and my Dell Latitude e6420.

(So far -- thank goodness -- they haven't put a "remote kill-switch" into their operating-systems, so that, as soon as they go past the end-of-support--date, the computers turn off (if you're in the middle of doing something on the computer when that date hits/comes/happens/arrives/comes-around) or you can't boot into the OS (if the computer was off when the end-of-support--date happens and next/after-that, you try to turn-on the computer).

After doing the change to W10 Enterprise for a couple of years I must say security is way better than W7 and well for dx12 support on games you are force to upgrade eventually. I always hated W10 Ultimate but later when I switch to Enterprise I had a better overall experience. You still force to update the OS as usual but stability, compatibility, security does pay off in the long run. Im use to reformat my PC when things doesn't work well but with W10 I never run into issues like older XP/Win7.

That is exactly what I use it for. It runs great. If you get one with a good battery you might get up to 6 hours. I am using my e7240 to write this comment

It's dual core with hyperthreading, whereas the i5 is just dual core I believe. I'd say try and look for one but don't pay a bunch of extra money for it over the i5

I had the E6440 and it was great. but it had some overheating issues, so I replaced it with something else BTW it was the i5 4310M, 4GB RAM, 500GB SSHD. Ended up putting 8GB RAM and 480GB SSD in it and it was great. the thermal throttling was not (it would run at 800MHZ always)

E6440/E6540's are great machines, sell a lot of them and no issues with heat to date. Always get the ones with the Radeon HD8690M/HD8790M 2GB graphics in as well, so fine for gaming on too.
