These videos have been great - I doubled the ram in my server and am about to put in some E5-2695V4's. Having these stepy by step guides is handy, even if you are surrounded by home built beige boxes - Servver anatomy is sufficiently different to commodity PC hardware. Enough to warrant a clear step by step before doing the actual task.

edit: WARNING!: The DRAC will WIPE ALL historic logged data. So all the logged power usage and everything from the Hardware tab: System Board SYS, CPU, MEM & IO Usage. Which is extremely infuriating... Who wouldn't want to compare system power usage and load before and after swapping the CPUs? Really useful video - and perfect timing as I've just had new CPU's turn up. I gotta be honest though. You're using this as a sales pitch and I was 100% behind you until the electric screwdriver came out. Seems not just entirely unnecessary, but potentially dangerous - heck, you even rounded one of the screws off slightly. CPU installation needs to be tight, but it's also the sort of thing where you want feedback; which you'd get from a manual screwdriver. Or one with a clutch ;)

Excellent video. Quick question - I'm currently looking to upgrade from Intel Xeon E5-2697V2 to Intel Xeon E5-2699A V4. Am I am able to update the BIOS and Firmware without going via a v3?

I have a question. I have Dell r730xd. What screwdriver types and size to remove heatsink?

Great vid! Q: if I'm going from 1 CPU to 2 CPUs, are there other considerations? I have redundant 750W PSUs.
@cloudninjas Жыл бұрын
Make sure you have a 2nd heat sink. Spread your memory evenly across all the channels and don't just leave on CPU1. Add in a dash of love and you are good to go!
