i have the same modem 5540, so camera position under dell logo, some one had top of screen, i dont know why. :(

Hi, I want to perform an unusual “upgrade” on my Precision 5520 laptop. The motherboard of my 5520 is fried, this being the second time this has happened. The first time the laptop was in warranty and Dell took care of it. Now i have to pay for the replacement.. Anyway, I am looking in to placing a 5540 motherboard in the chassis of a 5520. Dell cannot tell me if this is possible, and i have found no one that has done this before. At a glance the two motherboards look 99% -100% identical, at least from online pictures. Do you have in your tech lab these 2 laptops, and could take a look if the motherboards are indeed compatible? Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Sorry, don’t have the 5520 model to assist you mate, you might also want to make sure that the processor and other components are compatible, not much support online or from Dell for such things , which is a shame. I have also experienced dell motherboard failing and ended up purchasing a replacement from Dell. They don’t make them like they used to.

My company gave this as a work laptop. I know its a workstation not designed for gaming. Still I wanna know can i play less demanding games like NFS payback, NFS heat, fortnite, rocket league, GTA V ?

No harm in giving it a try, however if it is a work laptop, you may not have privileges to install applications.
