I noticed that the battery wasn't disconnected before removing the ssd or the ram. Does the battery have to be disconnected?

You can if you feel you are surrounded by static, most of the times when I make simple change I don't disconnect the battery but it necessary as Dell has it recommended..

Has dell fixed the battery swelling problem. I replaced my battery twice because it was swolen and push up the track pad. Dell did'nt seem to ackowledge this is in the past although I mentioned that the battery could explode. For a business type laptop this is something that most business travellers would have on the plane.

Dell will never take the blame and its a commend problem that can't be fixed because it starts from the manufacturing factory not enough check and balances to approve good battery. Try buying a American made battery from BTI(www.batterytech.com/) located in California they have much more to risk when buying from a small manufacture.

@@Upgradetech there have been several issues with the laptop. Driver issues impacting wifi setting, blue screens and power management issues as well. For a high priced laptop I was hoping for a little more accountability. My next laptop will be an HP elite. Dell has lost my business. Funny thing. I was a dell employee in the 90s.
