Forgot to tell people to UNLOCK the front cover. That is done from inside the box, Unlock. Or, the front HDD cover will not come off :)

I "unlocked" it in the hard way... now I can take it out without unlocking from inside

To unlock the HDD bezel, remove the side panel first. Locate the unlock button. It is blue in color, located above 5.25” drive bay towards the front of the chassis. It has an unlock symbol. Press it. After that, then you should follow the instructions in the video. Thank for posting is video.

at the 50 second mark - you show the caddie and the ssd enclosure. Those are two parts. I have the NVMe already. I want to add a second drive but I need the caddie and the NVMe enclosure. I can't find the part numbers anywhere in Dell Support. Any help?

Two top places are reserved for nvme only. Two bottom places are for ssd or hdd.

1:10 mine system is not open for some reason that latch is jammed, using something to push it down but the front panel where the ssd is not pop out or removable. Any idea?

There are 4 tabs holding it on. I can get to 3, but the 4th is behind thecusb/power button bar.

I’d like to install two 2.5 inch ssd inside the 5.25 inch bay using Dell r9pxf cage. Do I need to buy two SATA cables and connect them separately on the motherboard?

I have 22110 server samsung p963 nvme ssd that I have installed in pcie adapter and Im using it as boot driver in my lenovo server . Can I use this as boot drive in dell ? Will it boot from pcie ? This pcie adapter also comes with sata cable that I can connect to motherboard .

Hi to all the guys here. Would like to make an important question in my case concerning these dell computers that come with raid as an active drive controller (intel rst active) and not ahci. The problem is that whenever i try to boot into these machines in a winpe environment with the Strelec package if you know that, in order to reset the admin password if i cannot log into it or just backup the data of a user into an external hdd before reinstalling windows if the precedent os is damaged and cannot be repaired, the internal hdd-s or ssd-s of just the os directories into the drives are invisible. I click on “This PC” and there’s only my usb visible and nothing else. I made a search on the internet and it seems it has something to do with the intel rst driver that abstracts the hdd from the os. Please help me, what should i do in this case in order to be able managing the pc even when the pc is unbootable or just the admin password is not recognized.

If this is an additional drive and the drive is new you may need to initialize it in computer management.

No, its not required nor have we noticed a performance difference if it is used.

i have one system CPU precision 5820 950w, i want to use at my home, but issue i am facing, when i was using this system at my office , its working propely but when i was using at my home, then its not working, start isse, when start then after 10 min mouse and keyboard stuck, not working propely, i don't know whats problem is there?? my IT guy told voltage issue but, its 950W then how to use at my home plzz help me out.

Many of customers use these workstations at home with 950w power supply, and have we have not heard of this issue before. Before trouble shooting your workstation, we recommend testing your outlet with a volt meter and confirm its not your home causing the issue.

Hello, it could be various reasons. Most common issue that causing this is: 1) Drive is not formatted in Disk Management (drive should be seen in the BIOS), 2) SAS and power cable is not connected to the drive and motherboard properly, 3) drive is defective. To confirm, first check the BIOS to see if the drive is recongized there. IF not, check the cabling inside the workstation to confirm both ends of the connect are securely inplace. Lastly, if the above fails, replace your current drive with the new drive, and see if its recongized (can be switched back after) to confirm the drive is good or not. Best of luck.

On another video about the P5820 the host said that an SAS adapter is needed for SAS drives. I'm looking for a video that shows how to install the NVMe backplane to use NVMe drives. In the owners manual, page 92, it states that SAS drives are only supported with optional controllers and only on Xeon systems.
