i scoured the internet before i made my laptop purchase (thats how i found this channel). for whatever reason, this is the channel i seem to trust the most. i don't see that they are compensated by the manufacturers, and that to me makes their reviews honest and truly independent. i was seriously considering an apple laptop, (other than an iphone3 i have never owned an apple product), but after an imac review on LTT, i decided against apple almost immediately. alienware, spectre, and xps were my next choices. but i wanted something small that i could carry around work and i wanted a 2in1 for the convenience it offered... therefore office applications were my primary considerations, and gaming a distant second (at least for this machine). solely because of this video, i decided on the dell 9365xps. i did opt the 4k touchscreen. linus is right, the 4k was really an unneeded extravagance! unless of course you want exceptionally detailed and pretty wallpapers... even streaming media at 4k doesn't quite justify the expense to me. what i do disagree with linus on is the webcam placement. i thought dell's decision to place it at the bottom of the screen was exceptionally well thought out. when i am on skype, i find that i have no need for the keyboard, so i take advantage of the 2in1 and flip the screen around so the keyboard is face down, bringing the touch screen closer to me... this puts the webcam at the top... PERFECT! my only grievance is the (imho) small 512gb nvme drive. but a quick trip to newegg can remedy that... i would also like to find a 4g lte modem so i am never disconnected... thanks for the tip Linus! even with the downside of the cost being over $2k USD (with options and accessories) i love this machine! i may purchase another laptop for gaming in the near future... so lets see what linus suggests in the future... i will be watching!

+Mystic Bardock LSSGSS I don't see why not. The problem I've had running linux on a laptop, recently, is libinput is hopelessly broken. Unless they've gotten rid of the deadzone and delay when using tap-to-click, it's still hopelessly broken. Windows is marginally better, but still pretty rough. Does anyone know if Dell has started using an improved touchpad? Or one that at least works better under the OS they ship the machine with? I got so frustrated with the touchpad on my earlier generation XPS 13 that I bought another chromebook. At least their touchpad drivers work correctly.

SLI probably wouldnt work because it needs a sli certified mobo as well as at least PCIe 8x (i think) connections to each card, crossfire is more likely to work in this case due to less strict conditions set by the manufacturer edit: also adding a sli bridge is not possible when both gpus are on a seperate external enclosure

The 2017 XPS almost had me, but I ended up going with an Msi gs63vr instead for the gtx 1060. Honestly, gaming on my Msi is a great experience, but the battery life is another story. If Dell keeps revising and improving the XPS, I might switch over in a couple years here.

My Zenbook Pro has it. I ended up disabling the touchscreen after a little over month. It's not precise enough for use in Photoshop and since the laptop isn't a 2-in-1, I'm not using a "tablet mode." Maybe if the laptop has a shitty trackpad that doesn't support gestures, it makes more sense...but instead put in a decent trackpad so I don't have to wipe fingerprints off my screen every damn day...

I used a 4K 17" laptop for a while at work. It was information overload and caused me to have sight trouble and a chronic twitch in my eyelid. Went back to a 1080 display and everything went back to normal. I don't see the point in 4K until you start getting to screen sizes above 40".

i bought this laptop in early march, dell delivered it in April and is disappointed by the battery life; it doesn't last till 7hrs on my low usage. i don't run any funky apps which causes the fans to spin up and my LCD is on 25%, low power mode on 50%, Bluetooth is disabled and only using WiFi internet for some KZbin and light internet usage. Perhaps it is due to the 4K touch screen. Dell needs to make a 16GB version with HD non-touchscreen, which should get a way battery life. The touchscreen and 4K takes a lot of battery life even if you disable touchscreen capabilities like me. This laptop has some issues if you read the dell forums, especially the delayed sound part, where the windows sound effects play a bit later. Also due to low power mode, it makes chrome/Firefox behave like on a single core processor. Well one good point is you can use a lower wattage type C charger to change this laptop, like the one from Nintendo switch, though it would take a longer time then the laptop's 45w charger.

Dell XPS 13 9350 owner here. Dell has the fan configured to not run until at least 80C. At which point it plays catch up and brings it down to 40C. Fan turns off. Then repeat. The fan is all or nothing. I wish the fan would just run slowly more of the time to keep the cpu at a constant 50 or 60C.

The Lenovo Yoga 920 fixes all of the problems of the Dell XPS 13, but with slightly softer speakers. Highly recommend if you're looking for a similarly specced and priced 2 in 1 convertible laptop.

Got this laptop literally today for my 18th birthday (which was yesterday). Decided to give the review another look. Honestly I'm glad this is the laptop my friend (who is a huge fan of you guys btw) recommended to my parents to get me. A couple things I noticed not too long after taking it out of the box. The trackpad is in fact not the greatest. I'm not sure if this is a shipping thing, a defect, how the laptop is, or just me sucking at using the thing, but it's actually been a little unreliable. It keeps thinking that I'm using 2 or even 3 fingers when all I'm trying to do is move the darn cursor across the screen. (Maybe I just need to break it in since I went to use it just now and it worked fine because of course it did.) The other thing is that when I got into a Discord call to test that out, everyone was complaining about a deafening echo. Sure enough, I went into the Discord audio settings and there is in fact a loop between the mic and the speakers when I go to test the mic input that gets progressively louder. Wearing headphones seems to make it go away but I'm hoping there's a way to actually fix the problem.

Couple of years ago I saved up and bought "almost ultrabook" Dell Vostro. Also got 8gb ram for it. After warranty expired it started to show me "video driver stopped working" and then display shut down forever. After $200 repair of "ram power circuitry" it started to work so slow that it's unusable. I've re-installed the system with no effect. I still have it, and it breaks my heart when I hear "Dell" - I barely used that laptop, liked it so much. Can't afford a new one and still can't figure out what's wrong with it- it feels like a sick child to me.

I have a Dell XPS from 2012. Its a amazing machine (the battery is totaly dead sadly) but still works great in 2018 with the exception of me replacing the HDD for a obvious SDD. Dell makes good laptops!
