3:01 - So does it mean that it's not neecssary to backup the data of my new laptop, since there will be an image of my system available to download in case I want to perform a factory reset? I just bought a Dell Inspiron i5502-M20S and I'm on a doubt in this regard.

Thank you for the help my Dell computer has not been working for a long time and it always showed SupportAssist every time I tried to fix my computer and I did not want to get a new computer since my computer had all my personal data on it

Congratulations to Dell! They have this "Support Assist" tool that they tell you to use if you need to restore the drivers on your laptop -- but the laptop cannot connect to the net without the drivers and Support Assist won't even install without being connected to the net.

@@wkim8210 I guess Dell has so much knowledge on the subject, the figure their way is the only way, never realising that a simple ISO download plus support for drivers on another machine that IS connected to the internet might be a better way to do things....The failed machine isnt capable of doing a LAZERUS act when not connected....I've been trying to work out why the service tag downloads an Arabic recovery use install which means I'm going to have to learn that language to deal with their lack of proper support!

Did the same but the backed up data in Zip file shows empty. Seems like I have lost all my documents. Download, documents, music etc. Every folder showing empty. What is the use of such external backup?

I cant find the "File_Restore" when I click the folder, only archive and the XTML thing. When I go to the supportAssist it says invalid file. please help!

My computer is turning on with a screen that says that the battery is low and it has the options continue, BIOS setup, or diagnostics. When I click continue it goes to the error 0xc00000e9 screen telling me that’s there’s something wrong with an external source connected to my computer. I’m very confused please help

can you tell me why my laptop giving 16 bit unsupported application error as soon as connecting my c type charger? i am using Dell Latitude 7390 with win 11. The problem popping up continuously and showing ZoomE and ZoomX 16 bit unsupported problem error. This is happening only when I am connecting my C type charger.

I have the same problem! Trying to restore the system because the computer is painfully slow. Booting takes over a minute. [update] This time I timed it and booting up took over 3 minutes. Most of this time (almost 3 minutes) went down before any Windows screen appeared. First there is a screen with the Dell logo on it (for about 2 minutes), then a blank black screen, then at around 3:00 minutes the first Windows screen appears. I have no idea what could be wrong. Just tried to replace the hard drive (cloned the original drive to another drive), but if if anything, it was even slower with the other hard drive...

Hello over there! My computer dates from 2017 and does not have SupportAssist OS Recovery or BIOSConnect. I need to know if it is possible to install these components on my computer (an Alienware 17 R4), to make backup copies of my drivers, operating system, applications (eg, those related to Tobii, Network Killer, Thunderbolt and other ports, etc). In the event that this is not possible, how should I proceed when performing a complete format of my system and recovering all these drivers, applications, the BIOs, etc? Dell Support, I bought a Dell Inspiron 3580, I want to upgrade my SSD from 128GB to 256GB. Do I follow these steps when I change drives, or, will I lose the Dell Recovery Option when I remove the old drive? My Dell is still under warranty, should I send it in to have Dell upgrade it for me? I don't want to do anything that would void the warranty.

Hey, when I try to reset laptop using supportAssist. There are two options 1 is reset factory settings and other is reset and update. I have bad internet connection. I want to only reset but that option I can't select I don't know why it's like unable to select, I select the other one which is rest & update.

I had a reboot problem so i downloaded the dell os recovery tool. I used it to reinstall windows but the installation was in chinese. I got to the end and in windows and changed the windows display to english with alot of hard work. But some settings still have chinese tabs.(like regedit). I tried to re-use the os recovery tool but it starts up in chinese. And i even tried microsoft media creation tool but it also starts up in chinese. How do i fix this?

Hi there. I am trying to backup my files because my computer has been having a bunch of problems, I can’t even startup. So, I want to save my files and delete everything so my computer can be as if it’s brand new. I inserted a 16 GB micro sd and it says the micro sd is full. I checked on another two computers and it is completely empty. I formatted the micro sd several times and it still says it’s full. I don’t want to loose my things. What do I do? I don’t have another external drive.

Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery is an absolutely unreliable waste of time. I spent hours trouble shooting a boot fail error with a blue screen. I tried everything I could scrape Google for. Check disc for hours multiple times and two different ways and it failed ever single time. To make matters worst, I put in my Windows 10 OEM flash drive and somehow the laptop corrupted the drive and it wouldnt run anymore. I tried SupportAssist many times at it failed. By default it only gives a wired connection to connect to Dell. So if you dont have an RJ45 and a physical internet connection, get ready to start begging someone for it. And that one failed. Said "failed to find file". Tried it over five times. So I bought a 32 gig flash drive and downloaded it with the Dell software installation for OS Recovery. Complete trash, told me my computer wasnt eligible for recovery which was baffling. So since I have a new flash drive now, I decided to install a Windows OS Image on it. That is, after I bought a new SSD PCIE. And I bought a SATA dock to scrape my files off the rottern SSHD drive. Yes, the Dell G3 came with a nasty combination of a Solid State Drive and a Hard Drive. Seagate model, Firecuda. Absolute garabage that doesnt get called out. So in other words, the storage had moving parts. So likely the parts took a shove and the SSHD got damaged and threw the towell at me in the middle of my final weeks of this college semester. Because you know, having moving parts inside a flimsy portable device is still a good idea for manufacturer in the last five years. So I had to install Windows on the new drive and scrape the rotten drive for the salvage. This misleading piece of crap called SupportAssist gave me one hell of a round and round. And to make matters worst, now I know why my computer would run so slow if the disk space available reach under 25%. Because of the SSHD. I find it extremely unlikely this would ever happen again with the SSD PCIE. So if you get stumped, there goes your answer.

Can you do a factory reset / restore with the Factory Assist? How do you get the assist to connect via WiFi? I got a hold of a Dell Latitude laptop, but to get the reset process going, the Assist page appears. Is it just better to replace the SSD (or reformat it) and install Win 10? Can you get a copy of the Assist on a USB drive?

The Windows Assistant is in the Bios, its part of the Dell motherboard. If it doesnt run for you, then you either havent ran the Support Assistant or you have a bigger problem. Either way, youre better off replacing the storage drive and buying hard drive recovery dock to recover the files. Because if you tried multiple times and its still stuck on Windows assist loop, your computer is toasted@@j.lietka9406

Hello, when doing the backup to an external device (with enough space), will this delete the whole content of the external hard disk, or will the backup be visible as a separate "folder" (and the rest of the data in the hard disk remains as it is)? Thank you

I backed up the data and resetted the laptop but now when i am trying to restore the data i don't have the file_restore.exe file in it and only the archive file. What should i do now? I even tried to extract the archive file using other applications like winrar but no success. Please Help

Factory image is gone after OS crashed and had to clean install Windows. From them factory image is gone.
