Holy crap, this looks incredible. Does the market have space for Android notebooks? ABSOLUTELY! This looks like it could replace the Chromebook model almost altogether.
@RagingGingivitis9 жыл бұрын
I don't think it actually can. This laptop costs $500 while most Chromebooks are around the $200 range.
@EposVox9 жыл бұрын
Self Contained Productions Hence the "almost." I see this model as kind of the Chromebook Pixel of the Chromebook - the super, near-top-of-the-line model that shows just what all can be done, then ideally we'll get cheaper models soon. If we can get useable Android notebooks for the same $200 price range (the touch screen will be the issue on price) then I say many techies might go for them instead of Chromebooks - Android app functionality extends the device's usefulness far beyond Chrome apps. I love my Chromebook to death, but I would switch to this given the opportunity in a heartbeat.

Eric Melendez As would I but an iPad is just a tablet. And the Surface is a tablet-laptop but it's running on Windows OS. This runs on Android which is simpler to navigate.
@DrMacintosh9 жыл бұрын
Gordon Mendez But the Surface is a way better bang for your buck. Its a actual PC. This thing is also just a tablet with a keyboard and mouse. The iPad is the easiest of all of them to use so if you were going for simple its the iPad hands down. You could also use a Bluetooth keyboard with an iPad and get near the same functionality.
@iWillwerk4food9 жыл бұрын
In the category of tablet with keyboard the Surface is second to none but where I'm from the lowest end model of Surface is about $800USD. I agree with you that a 3rd party bluetooth keyboard will serve well but that means I will be lugging around a keyboard that couldn't be attached to a tablet. So really this device is for someone who can't afford a Surface.

To the people asking who would use this--though niche in nature, I would argue this would be very handy in hospitals. It's size lends itself well to fit into a white coat, and it would be easy to whip it out in jiffy when you need to type up orders or update a note on the fly. I personally use an iPad mini currently, and it has been nothing short of a 'lifesaver' (pun intended) on busy days.

The display is a beauty, just like old 1600x900 13 inch laptops back in the day. But I just don't see these notebooks taking off until they get more powerful specs in general, not just this andriod. However its in the right direction, but right now with really thin laptops that have way more powerful specs also gaining speed then the market is pretty much saturated with things for everyone.

reasons not to get it: 1) The price: you can get a reasonably priced windows laptop for that. 2) Updates! Unlike Windows Android doesn't update all products the manufacturer has to. 3) The screen scratches easy. I had the venue 8 version of this and even though i cradled it like a baby it still had a scratch on it somehow. It is great for the time being but the effect wont last with androids constantly updating and leaving models out dated. Save the pain and buy a laptop.

Well this device has a few main issues. 1.) Atom processors are great but if your going to use an x86-64 architecture just run windows or linux that take advantage of it and not android where most apps are not designed for cisc code. 2.) This "laptop" (really a tablet with a nice keyboard) does nothing a tablet with a nice bluetooth keyboard can't do and some do more .... far more for less money. A Galaxy Tab S with keyboard would give you the same resolution (with color options) and cost less. A nvidia ahield with keyboard would give you superior gaming performance and cost less. 3.) While not as bad as IOS for real productivity work (though it is improving) android is far from ideal unless all you really need out of a "laptop" is a larger screen then your phone. Windows (real windows not rt) has more options to fit exactly the type of file you need to mess with. From spreadsheets, to text documents, to code parsers, or any other productivity you need. Though unless you want to sell off a kidney running heavy photo/video editing should be done on a desktop. To be fair android tablets (which this is, just with a nice keyboard) are good at media consumption but if that is what you want there are better options. If you want a light laptop replacement get a good, inexpensive (read not surface 3 ripoff priced) atom based windows 8.2 tablet with a sdcard slot and a usb. Then with the $500 dollars you saved get what ever extremely nice keyboard and mouse you want and a nice 64-128GB microSD card for a D: drive. It will handle anything this or the surface 3 can. The surface pro 3 is different and also north of $1000 and yes that will do much much more, but at what it costs you could get your choice of laptop that will do it better if bigger.

@bmb498 жыл бұрын
Memory is a vauge term. Storage space would be more accurate for micro sd's as memory usually refers to RAM. Also when such microsd's become available which I believe do not as of yet at this time exist. I wonder what sets the 512gb limit? Since most devices deceivingly say they can except up to "then state the current maximum available card eg 200gb microsd" when if fact older devices who were said to accept up to say 64gb when that was the max actually except current max sizes. Can't speak for all but that has been my expierence.

I wish the people at Dell would at least implement some multi window optimisation so it really feels like a laptop. 350 or 400 with keyboard. that would be a fair price
