This video has been tremendously helpful! I really needed to clean the fan and was a bit unsure how much disassembly was required in order to get to the fan. This video made the trial and error minimal. I thank you very much for investing the time and effort into making this video for us. I hope you have a great day! To any rookies out there thinking of doing this, I recommend labeling the screws and keep them separated so you know which screws go where. I used an ice cube tray and small post it notes to keep track, happy cleaning :)

Hello, thank you very much for that well-supporting video! It saved my computer :) Something I would like to add (Just do this if you have new heat conducting paste available!): At minute 12:45 I would recommend to unplug the fan from the mainboard, dismantle the complete cooling device from the mainboard (5 screws) and open the fan housing (3 screws) to take off the fan. Now it's possible to clean the fan, the fan cover and the small channels of the cooler itself. In my case, there were about 2mm of dust in front of the cooler. Mount the fan housing again (3 screws). Afterwards, clean the surface of CPU, video chip and the opposite side of the cooling device and put new heat conducting paste on both sides. Fix the 5 screws and don't forget to connect the fan plug to the mainboard (otherwise the Computer will boot but stops with a black screen after a few minutes!).

Myślałem że jakoś odkręcę tylną obudowę i będę mógł działać ale jak zobaczyłem jak go trzeba rozkładać to się załamałem :) Bez tego filmu bym sobie nie poradził. Bardzo dobrze nagrany. thank you for making this video - i was worried about damaging ribbon cables and connectors but this video helped immensely. just replaced the thermal paste on my sisters vostro 3500. also upgraded the ram to 8gb, installed an ssd and replaced the cmos battery.

Two extra steps needed for removing the top inner casing (which holds the keyboard) that I did not catch in the video: 1. remove hdd and the screw under it 2. disconnect the piezo speaker (the coin shaped component with the black&red wiring) Other than that, thank you for the great video!

I for one had to remove the hdd before removing the big chunk seen at 9:38 due to the short silver screw from under the hdd holding the part with the motherboard and the one with the keyboard/touchpad together. But maybe it's just me :) Once again, I really appreciate your help! Happy holidays!

Jardel tb tenho receio de abrir o meu, mas vai ser o jeito fazer isso. Ta esquentando demais, ja vi alguns videos aqui no youtube e descobrir que eh um erro de engenharia desse notebook. o dissipador de calor nao toca na gpu corretamente o que acaba ocasionando essa alta temeperatura. Se esse for o seu caso tb, entao eh melhor abriri e corrigir logo o problema.

Not sure if it was just my laptop but before i could remove the front cover i had to undo a screw situated behind the hard drive. It seems you either didn't notice with your laptop or it wasn't fastened properly. You can see the screw i'm talking about at 12:10 right after you pull out the harddrive.

With a brush it will be possible, but That is not so efficiently because Inside there Are some carpet of dust. So, it is nassesarry that u have to disassemble the Devise once a year. Some peaple use compressed air, but there is some Risk of destruktion. Act smooth and gentle, and use my Video, so u will be able to have a quied and nice Working Systeme again. Best regards

If your Vostro is shutting down often, First make a professional clean out (use my Video) if the issue Continue, then is there a mainboard failer, so u have to replace the mainboard. (Use my Video)

You can try this: 1 straighten a paper clip, 2 with the laptop upside down insertar the clip información the fan opening and be sure the clip is blocking the fan from spinning. 3 With the clip in place blow gently and contiunuosly from the bottom opening. You will see How dust is blown away. Repeat 2 or 3 more times. After that you May Wang to try o en more blow, this time from the si de of the laptop. IMPORTANT: always keep the clip inserted avoiding the fan to spin. You may damage the fan beyond repair if you let the fan to spin freely.

Check the Audio Board , u can detect it at 13:44 at My Video (Look to My Finger it will Show u the Audio Board), maybe u does not lock the mainboard with the Audio Board, Check it out, please. Best regards

No, Thats not possible, because u Need a bios Version what supports the I7 and the bios from the Vostro 3500 not supported that. If u know anybody how can make a rewrite/Flash the bios then it will be possible. But then u will have a termic Problem, because the i7 Needs more cooling. I tryed it, but After the replacmend, The laptop doesnt boot.

Even at 1.5x speed it was painfully slow. Disassembly involved forgotten steps which were done later, don't use it as proper step-by-step instruction. No fan and grill cleaning was actually shown. time waste.
