Just received the Developer's Edition two weeks ago. So far, I have zero issues with it. Mine has the i7 and 32 GB of RAM, but with the lowest level screen (for battery life improvement). It is excellent so far when it comes to application development as a daily driver.

I am seriously happy to buy a 1500$ laptop which would run for atleast 4 to 5 years for me instead of a mobile costing 1000 or 1300$. Currently there are many good 13.3" machines available in the market. Samsung galaxy flex. Dell XPS 13 9300 Acer shift 3 Acer shift 5 LG gram 14 or 13. But currently we have complete lockdown in our country 😶, daam you corona.🤦🏻♂️😶.

Thanks for your opinion on the 4k and form factor. I ordered the 1080p version and thought about returning it due to the hype about the 4k monitors. I personally also think it is an overkill to have 4k on such a small device.
@Stan_sprinkle4 жыл бұрын
I've had this one for almost 4 weeks and it's great, but still in the return window and I just got the new MacBook Pro. I think I'm going to end up returning the XPS. But it's my favorite Windows laptop that I've ever used. Initially, I got the 4k version of the XPS, but the battery life was no good. The current one I have is the 1080p touch screen version (i7, 16 RAM) and it's pretty solid. But, I feel like for the same money, the MacBook Pro is a bit of a better value - better screen, better keyboard and trackpad, better OS, Windows on Parallels is really good these days. It's gonna be hard to give up the XPS because of how pretty it is, but I miss having a Mac. ///. BTW, I noticed a slightly annoying thing on the XPS. When you close the lid, just normally with two fingers, pick it up and then rest it vertically, hinge down, on your legs. It will pop open, not enough to wake the machine, but it pops open about half an inch. I noticed it first when I was holding it under the hinge walking to another room, but it also will pop open when sitting in one of my briefcases. If you push a little more firmly when you close it across the entire lid, it seems like that locks it in place a little better and it doesn't come open.
@tech_realm4 жыл бұрын
stan_sprinkle The redesigned hinge isn’t as good as keeping the computer closed in that position. This happens on one of my laptops (ASUS) as well.

Love the video, but why would the dell xps 13 2-in-1 score a little higher than the standard one? I would imagine the 9300 would score higher considering its not a 2-in-1 and would therfore have better airflow?

From what I've seen, 4k on Windows is just a messy and inconsistent experience. The moment you think you've got everything figured out, you'll open a program that just doesn't work at 4k. Love 4k for games that support it, but IMO the actual Windows implementation is just kind of spotty.
@LonSeidman4 жыл бұрын
Agreed that has been my experience too. It's a lot better than it was a year or two ago.

@@LonSeidman Same here. I use video editing software and the UI icons are EXTREMELY tiny because of the horrible Windows scaling. 4K also drains battery life.

@petrkisselev50854 жыл бұрын
If only it came with a Ryzen 4000 CPU... though I probably wouldn't buy it anyway. I really hate the lack of ports on modern laptops. It just forces you into buying an expensive dock if you want to connect your machine to a screen, mouse and keyboard.

Dissapointing performance, dissapointing battery life, though great screen and aspect ratio. Love the bezels. Still not worth it to me as it's just not versatile enough. Great review though.
@tech_realm4 жыл бұрын
This is a thin Ultrabook - you won’t expect that much performance out of it! Dell usually tends to push their laptops harder than other manufacturers, though. Battery life is pretty good to me. And if you want versatility, get a 2 in 1, not a normal clamshell. Consider the HP Spectre if performance isn’t as important to you. Keep in mind that the i7 model of that is even worse than the i5 of the Dell XPS (video from Matthew Moniz), but fine if you are doing office work. You can get a pretty good deal on the Core i5 model for as low as $800 on a holiday sale. Maybe Memorial Day in the US?
