Urea-formaldehyde foam (UFFI) is indispensable for insulating cavities in walls and ceilings of buildings. Selecting the proportion of components is the main condition for quality material. Before pouring components into equipment for the production of penoizol, it is imperative to check their quality and mixing proportions. If you don't do this, you risk wasting your money. First you need to take 1 liter of ordinary tap water, which you plan to use for the production of penoizol. The water temperature should be at least + 20 degrees Celsius, the same as what you will use in the production of penoizol (recommended + 30-60 degrees Celsius). Then, using a medical syringe, add the minimum amount of ABSA foaming agent to it in proportion, for me it is 500 ml. per 100 liters of water (the resulting solution should be transparent, like the original water). If there is not enough foaming agent, the water will have a bluish cloudy color. Add orthophosphoric acid in a minimal amount, approximately 200 ml. per 100 liters of water. Mix everything well. Now pour 1 part of the resin into a clean disposable cup (I use it from the Novomoskovsk Sofrachim plant) and 1.5 parts of the prepared solution. The proportions of resin and solution depend on your installation for the production of penoizol and its density. Maybe 1:1; 1:1.5 and 1:2. Mix well and turn on the stopwatch. After 9-10 minutes, the resulting mass should turn into jelly and not pour out of the glass. If the solution has not hardened, add 50 ml to it. orthophosphoric acid in proportion to 100 liters of water and do the experiment again. Add 50 ml. orthophosphoric acid until the setting time of the solution is 9-10 minutes, this is my opinion (in other sources 10-12 minutes). After a successful experiment, we write down the obtained proportions and use them in practice until you purchase new components. Each batch of new penoizol components must be tested experimentally. The resulting penoizol should be elastic and not brittle. Fragility indicates an excess of phosphoric acid.
For 1 cubic meter of penoizol I use KPS-G resin and a solution of water, foaming agent and food grade orthophosphoric acid in a ratio of 1:1.5. That is 12 liters of resin and 18 liters of solution. Add orthophosphoric acid to the water in a minimal amount, approximately 200 ml. per 100 liters of water. We add the minimum amount of ABSA foaming agent to it in proportion, for me it is 500 ml. per 100 liters of water (the resulting solution should be transparent, like the original water).
