You can make your own urea formaldehyde foam (UFFI). The Penoizol-B installation for home insulation is not expensive and hardly breaks down. To produce high-quality urea-formaldehyde foam (UFFI), it is very important to choose the correct proportions of components. I’ve been using this setup for three years now and have no intention of changing it yet. Main technical parameters of the installation:
- productivity - up to 5 m3/hour;
- penoizol supply height - up to 8 meters;
- unfilled weight - 24 kg;
- service - 2 people.
When working with this installation, there are nuances that are not specified by the manufacturer:
- the manufacturer’s instructions do not have a clear explanation for starting the installation (I experimented for 1 month, and received clear information on the proportions of components from other sources of information);
- the prepared solution of foaming agent, phosphoric acid and water cannot be stored in the installation tank (the acidity of the solution is lost);
- it is advisable to replace the ball valves for dosing components with needle valves, they can more accurately regulate the supply (but the resin and solution must be pre-filtered to avoid clogging of the valves);
- water filters should be installed at the entrance to the taps to further protect them from debris;
- it is necessary to install a tap on the air hose between the tanks to avoid overflow of components when filling the tanks;
- when choosing a compressor, look not at the input, but the output air capacity (my compressor with an input capacity of 350 liters per minute produced wet foam with large shrinkage, I had to buy a second one);
- after work, rinse all taps, pipelines and tanks with hot water to prevent corrosion and blockages.
Overall, I’m happy with the installation, the only problem is the need to frequently refill the tanks for large volumes of work.
