Awesome. I love how you can hear the individual blades clicking in their spots.

Ok I got to ask. how are you not getting sucked into that engine? I mean at the beginning it was spinning fast so how come it didn't?@@Helicopterpilot16
@Un-Grand-Central8 ай бұрын
@@davidwarda5616it had already begun to shutdown before recording, what you see at the start is 2% of its total power compared to the normal idle of around 20% and so at that speed sucks in realitivley little air

I didn't know you could get that close when the fan plade is spinning this fast 0:05

engine was just idling and then was shut down. There is no massive airflow just on idle
@Zayday1993 Жыл бұрын
Really once the fuel shuts off you pretty much can get as close as you want as the suction would have decreased majorly it still will have a pull but not strong enough to suck you in
@Zayday1993 Жыл бұрын
@Princess Mari yes I saw that story but yes idle would be the fuel is still being burned and the turbine is on idle with the plane in the parked position but once fuel is shut off the engine literally begins whining down and the suction at that point is pretty much powerless

Hey nice vid...and why were the engine making that weird clicking noise?
@Helicopterpilot166 жыл бұрын
Each fan blade has a fine tolerance in its dove tail slot. But it isn't a sturdy fit. This allows the blades to lead and lag only a slight amount reducing vibration. If it were a fan with only a few blades sturdy and others loose, it can cause a failure from cracking. If you want to know more watch AgentJayZ's videos on blade noise, he describes it in a video as well. Thanks for watching!

The metal things that look like they connect the blades actually don’t and they collide and make the clapping noise

The narrow chord blades can't handle the loads placed on them. So, to compensate for this, the fan is shrouded. The sound you hear is the shroud connecting with other blades. Rolls Royce invented the wide chord shroudless fan. And, because it was so efficient, the front fan only required 24 blades Vs 36 on the PW. Now that the patent has expired, Rolls' wide chord shroudless fans are now industry standard.
