The 717 is one of my very favorite birds. It's such a great plane. I was thrilled to hear that Delta is going to be keeping theirs indefinitely.

Sadly the 717 is gone in Europe already. But I was able to fly her several times. Days in US are counted as well for the latest Mc Donnell Douglas Aircraft.

Na. The engines on the 717 sound way different than the Boeing 737. The Boeing 717 uses two Rolls Royce BR715’s which have a distinct Spoil up and roar sound compared to the CFM 56-7B found on the 737. Anyway thanks for watching!

Nope. The flaps were on a small deployment takeoff configuration. Few seconds after takeoff you can see the flaps retract right when the pilot spoils down the engine thrust to climb power. Thanks for watching!

Haha yeah, the clouds give it a surreal look. This is a real flight, though…if you need convincing, look at the highway traffic right after takeoff. Flight simulators aren’t there quite yet. The traffic in a flight simulator looks a lot more rigid and robotic as of 2023

Na the engine sounds are one of the best parts of flying on the 717. Which makes the jet really cool fly on! I understand not everyone likes the engine noise, but the views are amazing, and the jet is pretty quit in curse.
